Browsing craigslist i just came acrross a 3800 SC out of a 93 bonneville

Comes complete with the harness ECU and accesories for like    
a grand!!!!

Is this a good candidate? Is this a series 2 motor? WIll my 2.8 auto bolt up to it or do i need a new transmission?

thats a series 1 id scout around a little more get the newest one you can find.

if bstuff didnt suck id tell you to look up a topic ROLNGTZ did it had all the people listed that swapped in 3800's and there were a few older as in the same year as your car who did it.

if the milage is low enough then it might be a good deal

You probably wouldnt want to try and run a 2.8 auto trans on that... you'll blow it to hell.

On cold mornings it doesnt want to go into drive sometimes... but if i let it warm up it does....fluid is fresh and looks good

Ill probabkly mate the 3800 to a 5 speed when it comes down to it...if i keep this rate up ill be able to start the swap in the middle of summer..

If your going to do a manual, try a G6 6-speed. If you going to do a 3800sc, might as well go one step farther. It would be the first for sure. Just an idea. I have been thinking about doing, when my auto craps out.

go with a 97 newer. the 98 bonni motors came with a two 2 bar map sensors. its rare. why there is two of them i dont know. probably a back up map   never looked into it
