Hey i live in illinois and i got a ticket for loud exhaust any advice or laws i should know about im taking it to court today and im going to fight it because i have had it for about a year and a half i have a magnaflow stainless W/tips and im somewhay irrated at the lockport cops please help i dont want to pay for a dam* ticket escpecially for that!

Slap a different muffler on that'll kick the ticket.  It's up to you to do anything after that.
I would love to see you fight it, but we all know it'll be wasting your breath.

Didn't know those magnaflows were that loud... are they?

well to a cop in lockport a fart can is loud on a honda while turned off, i did fight it, it was a 25 dollar ticket but it is the principle, i see cars roarin down the street with glasspacks or just straight pipes! im going to put a 3 inch exhaust so it has a low deep tone

Around here it's like a $90.00 ticket!  They don't play around here I guess.  

where do you reside?
The speeding tickets are quite hefty around here though

The one thing they really have not got down on the drivers for YET is window tint.

tell you what they say they are around here but i do drive with my windows up all the time and they say nothing ( at least the cool ones dont )

This is for Chicago. I bet your local ordinance is similar:

Chicago noise and vibration control

There is no way a police officer can validate that through his/her own hearing.
I hope you do challenge it with an official test. ÂÂÂ

around here in lehighton pa the cops dont do much but they hate a loud noise! right after i got my car i got pulled over becouse my exhoust fell apart and was to loud but i did get away with it becouse it had just fallen off before i got pulled over. the cop seen that the rest tip of the muffler was still warm and droped it there.

So we're all screwed right there.  I love how they give you limits and then when you contest it they refer to the very last line in the legal code that makes the rest of it all worth less and they slap you with the ticket.

I've got a Magnaflow muffler and tip on my car. I've never been stopped about the sound of my car. Thats sucks.....

well maybe lockport cops just suck, i drive past will county all the time and they say nuthin they drive behind me when im @ 2000 to 3000 rpm which is when it is the loudest. go figure remember it is not a ticket quota it is a "" performance standard""

Well, I live in Sudbury, ON and my exhaust is loud as hell and i have never had a problem with the police or the ministry. Even when my catylitic let go on me i drove like that for a good week before i got it fixed and never got pulled over, good luck i suppose.

well my muffler is shot and the car is so laud i have the stereo blaring just to hear it while im driving 55 i dont think this will pass inspection nor do i care but the piont is i havent got pulled over for it yet(knock on wood if u read this)
