I'm in jersey too...
You can't pump your own gas because 2 reasons, 1 real, 1 might be real...
# 1, - People try to get high, and they are paying for gas, not to get high, so the owners of the gas station get pissed...
#2 - People steal. they suck, and for the record, I don't mind because sometimes it gets my windshields washed for me too...

Those arent the reasons why Trenton passed the law. NJ has some of the lowest gas taxes in the country, and it was done to promote job growth.
