My $1G CAN 92 GTZ........

well...I havent posted in forever on here...my Z24 was involved in a bad accident. I have a friend who wants it and he's gunna 3400 5spd it. Basically...it hit a huge watermain cover stickin out of the ground...it ripped up the tranny, oilpan, motor mount, lower control arms...etc..long list to repair. I found a 92 GTZ locally for 1G and fell in love:

I made a homemade CAI for it, I threw new side exit exhaust on it straight no cat with a small magnaflow muffler ( holy crap its louder than a bike), iridium plugs, royal purple 20W50. I bought it without a mechanical...it had a seized plug on cyl #2...my mechanic was able to remove it thank god. the whole center electrode and ceramic core were missing....no wonder it never ran A1 LOL. He also mentioned it was down 2L of coolant and it appearred to leak into one of the cylinders...(****) well...I am gunna try some stop leak first. worst case scenario is rebuild. the interior is near mint and the car has 290K on it. It needs a hood, some flat black paint, and a good night out at the track ASAP. I am gunna throw my old 14" z24 wheels on for the track, as well as strip the interior and trunk out a lil bit to lose some weight. I am gunna order the w41 chip this week. any suggestions?

DONT put the stop leak in.  You'll more than likely ruin the water pump, clog the heater core, gunk up the T-Stat and radiator.  It might even cause you to over heat due to it blocking a coolant passage in the head.

Replace that headgasket asap!  Also, 5w30 or 10w30 is all she needs.  I use Mobile One 5w30 Fully Syn, I suggest the same thing.  Running that thick of oil could cause seals to burst and then leak.  It could also cause premature failure since that oil is so thick.

Welcome to the board and keep that GTZ looking/running nice!

Thx for the advice...I trust my mechanic( I was a bit unsure of running it too). He said this type of stopleak is the only one he would use. He said the headgasket is a big job as well on a quad4. Also, theres a few reasons why I started running 20w50. One, its thicker which means its going to take a while to seep past your seals if they arent already leaking from running 5w30. Its also thicker which helps maintain a more constant oil pressure. It would more than likely reduce blowby as well if it was present ( which its not). 5w30 is recommended by manufacturer's simply because it helps build the most HP out of your engine. That doesnt necessaraly make it the best choice.

Do what you will.
Just do a quick search on google about oils and what it can and cant do for you.

What do you need a shift kit for with a 5-speed.  I must be missing something?

well....heres a pic of the spark plug that was pulled LOL...I got a better hood and a grille that allows a little air movement for it also. Theres a shot of the tip showing how rich she runs on 94octane too. I want to degree the cams and nab a w41 chip for it ( it just starts to pull real good before it hits limiter ) but I would like someone experienced locally to help. I have someone in mind. Anyways, heres some pics for you:

Don't run that heavier oil in the Quad.  You take a chance of ruining it.
Headgasket is not that big of a job in a quad even if the head is warped.  Find someone else to work on that car!
Nice car!  And good luck with it!!
