Electric Issues

First off 1989 2.8 3 speed. For the past couple of days my car has been acting weird. When I turn on the left signal it either flashes really fast or stays on. The right signal blinks very slow. Also when I hit my brakes, my gauge lights come on. when I let off, they turn off. Any ideas?

Low voltage, from a failing alternator, might cause oddities like that. Does your car have an aftermarket alarm system that might be screwing things up? Otherwise, I would think that the turn-signal combination switch is probably the culprit, so long as your blinker-fluid level is correct

Found it! it WAS the blinker fluid

In all seriousness though, im pretty sure my alternator is good. ill replace the switch and see what happens

Another member recently had a weird issue tool and found it to be the hazard switch.. Could be that, too. I'll dig around and see if I can find a wiring diagram relevant to this, otherwise, I would say it is probably one of those two if there is no alarm system spliced in...

It may be a blown bulb or bad flasher
