Was wondering how hard it is to make a 95 z26 into a 5 speed?

I think this is more of a user issue... I've found many buried things on this site using the search feature, but it did however require me to understand how the search works... and read over all the features it offers.

and to compound any searching issues... Has anyone actually posted a straight forward write up on how to do it? I think the biggest issue using the board search or google is he will only find fragments of what needs to be done... some in one thread and some in another. There was never a definitive guide ever posted, not like rear disc, front brake upgrade, Koni's or OBDII harness stuff.

Yes it's definitely a user issue. To each their own, its just another way people can search. We should be embracing alternative self help options. It seems relentless the amount of time spent trying not to help people on this site.

3X00-Modified is correct there is no "step by step guide" I did manage to find out how to do this for my own car by using Google and some posts on here.

Really the only difference on this guide, is the VSS. I had no issue plugging my Auto plug into my Manual. Taking the hook grill and front bumper off isn't really necessary either. I was lucky, had a donor car of the exact same year.

Just remember though... 5-speed swaps on a 94+ car are a completely different animal... They never came equipped with one... Mounts required are not there welding is necessary. This is what Geoff had to do to his 95 and no one has ever really written a step by step guide on how to do it... many have documented it a bit in build threads but a lot of those photos are missing so its useless info that you can't compare to a photo.

I've personally never done the swap so I can't build a step by step guide and if someone would put something together I would gladly pin it on this forum like that post is on the Z24 forum.

I have a writeup that I started years ago... it has most of the information in it. I haven't looked at it in years, but nothing really has changed... if you want it, I can email it to you. PM me your email address and I'll send it over.

Heavywoody made the original guide. I used it 5 or 6 years ago when I did my 5-speed swap.

Biggest challenge for 94-95 is ECU. But there may be solutions to that now

There are tuning solutions but no one wants to pay the money ever...

I thought Dusty was doing some work on the tuning aspect, but I haven't really talked to him since September. I have Geoff's guide saved too, but sadly I never got around to doing the swap.

I know Dusty was interested in using the OBD1.5 solution but I don't know if he ever bought it.
