How wide of a wheel can you run?

As the title says, I want to know how wide of a wheel people are running on their Beretta. Is it possible to run an 8.5" wheel? I know the section width of a 225 tire is almost 8.9", so it would seem like 8.5 is possible.

I seem to remember someone on bstuff using 8.5" wheels on a big (18 inch? 19?) wheel and it was fine.
If you're wanting to get rid of the 17's on your Beretta I'll buy them off of you. They'd help the Cruiser look less like a rental car. hah

Depends on the offset of the wheels, but I imagine it's very possible as long as you don't go with a crazy offset.

Well, here's why i was asking the original question...
That's going to be the new set of 17x8.5 magnesium wheels as long as they fit right.  I only have one right now to be able to test the clearances, etc...
The tires weigh 23#
