Hey all, I bought my wife her all time dream car 1991 Beretta GT , but I am having an issue finding a steering column for it. Does anyone have one for sale? Know where I could get one? Or know of any other cars that are compatible? (Other than Corsica)

Thanks

Hey, welcome to the site! Sounds like she is a keeper! (The car too, obviously!)

I don't have my '92 Grand Am anymore, finally had to abandon it a few years ago, so I can't confirm 100%... But I THINK the N-Body line from ~'92-'96 might match-up, and possibly older into the late '80s? They share most if not all of the firewall-forward under-skin frame/sheetmetal parts with our L-Body Berettas/Corsicas/Tempests... Look for Buick Skylarks, Grand Ams from Pontiac, and Oldsmobile Achievas... It is possible the Cavalier/Sunfire J-Bodies might match from the end of the '80s up through ~1994, before the major body-change in '95. Again, can't confirm, my Turbo Cavvy Z-24 is a '96, but it may be a direction to start looking.

What is wrong with the original column? The pot-metal ignition-switch linkages aren't fabulous, and the pivot-pins can be tough to work with on a tilt-column, but I don't think I've heard of notable issues with the columns as a whole being problems with our cars? My first '95 Z-26 had a MAJOR steering-related problem, but it was actually a stress-cracked firewall allowing the steering-rack to slide back and forth an inch or two, nothing wrong with the column itself. Mine was not the only L-Body I've heard of to suffer that failure either, and it could easily be misdiagnosed as a problem in the steering-rack or column...
