Guys,
My 1990 Beretta GTZ just got rear ended, body shop estimates 8 - 9 grand to repair. The jackhole who hit me better have really good insurance (just happened about 2 hours ago). Anyhow, real hard hit in left rear (Stake bed truck thought he could clear me, drove right by and caught my rear end. Interior shows normal wear for a 94,xxx miles 18 year old car. Motor was very good, last service I had compression checked, all cylinders are good. Mantapart lightened flywheel, etc. Wheels need to re painted or powdercoated, and BFG TA tires are low mileage. I don't want to part it out, but I would like to keep it from getting crushed. If I can buy it back any ball park numbers for it? Sheet metal except L/R corner is all very nice, no rust. All GFX are good also. Rear spoiler may be okay.
"1988GTU" had just come through with a ignition switch rack last month or so, and knowing how hard parts are to find I thought I'd see what interest there is for this as parts.
This just happened, so no timetable yet. I'll update this as I get info. For the record, I bought this new Jan. 16, 1990, only owner of the car.

Yeah, I've got a few pictures, no photobucket account and kind of busy (lazy?) to set one up. Hired an attorney today for the insurance hassle. If I could save this car I would, but I seriously doubt it would ever be right. The roof is rippled and the drivers seat is bent. It was a hard hit. I'd really like some parts to find a good home, but maybe not. The whole thing is up in the air right now anyhow.

I would part it out if you can get it back for under a grand.
Glad you are okay.

Not many clean 1990 GTZ's out there. I may need the Bnet help in establishing some reasonable market prices for similar low mileage cars. Only one I saw on Auto Trader is $4800, a number I like. I might need to ask for a few similar priced cars before this is done. His "Organ Donor" card says he wants to donate organs so other Beretta's may continue to live. Like any faithful companion he did what he was supposed to and gave his life keeping me from being more seriously injured. He is in the driveway in a body bag and it hurts every morning to look.
Thanks for the help & understanding. Not sure what will replace it. I really liked the car, even with some other cool cars in the garage this car never stopped being fun.
MoneyPit, sorry for your loss too. Kind of cool, people at work coming in here and offering condolences. I guess when you own something 18 plus years, it becomes part of you.

Yea, had my 90GT for 12 years. Still find it hard to look at the crash photos. I miss my car everyday, I may always miss it. I'm also glad to hear that your ok. mustangman70 lost his 89 and got 16 stitches and last I talked to him he said that he can't even look at a Beretta(yes, these cars become a big part of us).

it is wierd how attached i became to these cars, and to be honest, ive not ever heard someone say they hated their beretta and would never ever buy another one... becouse if they did, either it was a complete pos, or they are flat out lieing to your face....

Ouch, still hurts to see it. It's covered in my driveway. I don't have any info on it yet, but you are first in line.
