Position : Road Course Operations Director
June 20, 2008, 5:30 P.M. 'til 8 P.M.
This position will report directly to me, and TMP staff, and oversee all aspects of Road Course organization on-site.
Duties include, timing supervision, staging, gymkhana planning and execusion, and all associated responsibilities.
You MUST NOT be participating in the Road Course or Drag Race portion of BerettaFest 2008.
Qualifications: The wisdom of Solomon, the patience of a Priest, the hide of a Rhino, and the ability to take a bullet in dealing with the unbridled sense of entitlement of testosterone engorged young "adults" with 3000 pound weapons, who evidently KNOW EVERYTHING!
Compensation: Absolutely nothing, although we may be able to find a couple of cold ones at the bottom of the cooler once all things are said and done.
Interested parties may contact me directly.

Eric,
Might not be a bad idea to add that interested parties should have some insight into racing organization.  Perhaps past autocross or 1/4 mi. activities preferred?  Just a thought.. ÂÂÂ

I really think this individual will come from outside this community, but thought I would post it here and see if anyone wanted to throw in their hat.

I might possibly be interested. I wasn't planning on doing 1/4 mile anyway, and with what I've got planned, I don't think you'll let me through tech inspection for the road course...
I'll have to e-mail you a couple pictures and show you what's going on. If it's as illegal as I think it is, I don't think you'll let it fly.
I normally run 1/8 mile here, but I don't it's too much of a stretch to run people through the road course. Basically, keep new people coming in and giving everyone equal time out there.

The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that 99.99% of all tech inspections are looking for things which affect the safety of the vehicle, both for the driver, and the other competitors and spectators.
Having said that, I would hope that any changes you are considering wouldn't compromise the safety of your car, no matter where you choose to drive it.
Let me know of your concerns, and I'll do my best to address them and help you out.

I might as well just let it out here... not too many people are going to read this topic anyway.
I would say it's more of a driving hinderance than a straight up safety concern. I chopped the top and bottom of the steering wheel off so there's just a handle on each side. There's some other "stuff" going in the middle, but that's besides the point. Really, it's just going to be a little more difficult to make sharp turns (mostly around town).
To put it in perspective: if I was you, I wouldn't approve it. Most turns will not be of concern, but quick sharp turns might be a problem.
I can still get you pictures if need be. I've been trying to get some up to use on another forum, but photobucket isn't working for me for some reason. They'll be up eventually...
My other option would be to bring another steering wheel and bolt that sucker in at the track. I might just do that... I've got a couple spare steering wheels here anyway.

I'm actually going to have to check that one.
I'm guessing that would probably do it though, at least for the road course.
Interestingly enough, it "might" not keep you off the drag strip.

When you registered, it said where you could send paypal funds to. At any rate, please send the money to
bfestreg@beretta.net on paypal. Thanks!

To clarify for the RC... Payment ($35) for the Road Course will not be collected until registration check in for the event, which is the thursday of Bfest. So please plan for this when getting ready for Bfest!
