Automatic Headlights

I've searched the topics for this specific topic but all I have found was information on the DRL.  I have a 1995 base model and I wish to disable the automatic headlights from turning on.  The issue I am having is in the afternoon when the headlights keep turning themselves on and off.  Its really anoying.  I found the sensor where it normally is which is under the defroster vent.  I called chevy and asked if there is a workaround or a way to disable the sensor and they tell me no.  I asked if I was to cut the wire to it if it would disable it and they said no and that the headlights would be on all the time cause it would then think it is always dark.  It must work like a solar sensor does and creates voltage when there is sunlight therefore keeping the headlights off.  If I was to cut it and splice in a power wire to the sensor to simulate voltage how much would be too much so I don't blow the system?  I also thought about getting a small light that would fit under the vent to keep light on the sensor.  Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?  I did find the box under the dash but it disables everything plus the driver side high beam like other posts say and I would like to keep the DRL active without the auto lights.
