Back to Back Datalogs of 3100 and 3400 on OBD 1.5

3100 with cone filter under open Z34 vent cut into hood (heatsheild surrounding filter).

3400 with first 2 sections of a Transgenic intake.

Both cars had stock exhaust manifolds, DP's but aftermarket mufflers. These are back to back 1/4 mile runs in 75 degree weather under sunny skies on an asphalt track.
Three things that jump out to me is that either the ribbed rubber hose /52mm TB on the 3100 intake or the smooth piping/ 54mm TB on the 3400 causes the same pressure in the intake manifold, a WAI vs. a WAI with an open source of air makes no difference in IAT, and a 3400 really should have either bumped fuel pressure or different injectors because of how much leaner it runs.

Did you get TP to correctly save a log??? I noticed there is a new version out, does this fix this bug?? I forget what values would not save right, I want to say it was RPM or Speed...

I got everything working except gear selection and EGR IIRC. I'm still on a 2 year old version of tunerpro and IIRC the one you had posted had something messed up with the injector PW but I just started from scratch and combined what worked fine on mine and what worked fine on yours. Neither one of us had the PW correct but I got it figured out at nitrofest along with a few other things. Tunerpro datalogs with my old file and this new one just fine for me. Yeah, the one you posted had multiple issues when I tried datalogging.

Send me a copy of yours when you get a chance and I'll compare them. On mine I forget which fields it doesn't log correctly, but when you are in real time it reads just fine. Play back the log and it's jacked up. Or export to .CSV and it's jacked up.... weird... What version are you using???? I have to use ScannerPro beta to get a data log to record and play back right, but that doesn't do .CSV export... That is weird that the definition I have has issues datalogging but in real time it's fine... Please let me get a copy of yours so I can fix mine/investigate... I'll post it on my site when I update in case you want to look at it when I'm done. I need to data log again.
I have Gear selection working on mine. Tells which gear the shifter is in. Now for what gear the trans is shifted to, is different, as there are 2 flags for the solenoids, and you'd have to some how compare and combine those, but I don't think you have that ability in the program to do that. If it allowed scripting then you could..
EGR I'd have to look into. I don't know if I tried or if I just said who cares... I guess it would be cool to know when it opens.
Now all the trouble codes current and history work fine as far as I know... Those are easy to "code" in though.

I was trying to get the actual gear figured out and I never had tried the gear selector. I just put random bits in to try and figure out how it works and its kinda slow. I have exported 40+ bits at a time to try and figure it out. I emailed you mine and like i said the EGR may or may not work, the trany gear doesnt work, and the TCC slipage seams wrong and yours outputs the same numbers as mine on tcc slip so IDK. I've never used the code reading portion so I may have to try that sometime.

Holy crap, talk about KR!!!! Your running at 15* advance and still getting KR... Thats insaine. just think if you were able to run at a similar spark advance as I can... I'm in upwards of 28*... and I think I could still go higher.
I guess this goes to show you that a OBD1.5 ecm can learn and run a 3400 ok, but is a BAD idea to run at a strip since it just can't support it... Either that or it's your injectors that are falling behind.
I'm checking your IPW's vs RPM to see your duty cycle.

Well, Not as bad as I expected IPW wise, BUT I bet if you had a MAF table and could scale it up, or for that style adjust the VE table, you would see 90+ on the IPW's almost all the way across the high RPM's...
I would LOVE to see someone datalog a 3100 OBDII and then a 3400 OBDII... similar as this and I would like to see the results of having a MAF sensor over working off of speed density.
For comparison I attached a IPW of one of my WOT runs. A little quicky from last week on my way to work, not a draway run.

I never had any problems with the 3400 on OBD1.5. I wouldnt be afraid to run it at the strip all day long... in fact I did a few times.
OBDII does give you more control, but OBD1.5 is still fine for a 3400. Worse comes to worst, just grab some minivan injectors to help with the duty cycle.

Then there is something wrong with his motor, because I'm willing to bet 1000 bux that you did not have that amount of KR when you were at the strip with the way you ran.

really, the duty cycle has nothing to do with it since we "can't" change that. I'm thinking 19# gm injectors like those out of the 96-99 3400s would be a good upgrade. Maybe even just 91/2/3 octane would be enough to get rid of the detonation even though it would still be running lean. Hey mark, what octane were you running and what was the exact et/mph for the best run? I need that for the list.

No you can't physically change the duty cycle but you can drop it buy adding in supporting mods such as larger injectors or a higher fuel pressure if using 2000+ injectors, I know its a driven value not a drive one.
I ran the 19# injectors in my 3400 from day one on my setup on OBDI.5 and when I ran it on the dyno the a/f numbers were dead on.

That's exactly what I meant about the injectors. I had pondered doing that with mine since on startup for the first 30 sec or so it was lean when running on the 3100 presets.
Try this test with a 3400 on stock OBD1.5 tuning & 3100 injectors: Fire the car, put it in drive and give it heavy throttle. Mine would stall every time - cold or hot. But if I waited 30 sec or so from start up and did the same thing it would spin the tires.
