Ecotec swap?

I was at the JY over the weekend looking for berettas, I only found one, but nothing was really useable. As I was leaving, a tow truck was on its way in with a wrecked Cobalt SS supercharged. The car only has 45k on it, it's either the 2.2 or 2.0 ecotec. Has anyone ever tried this swap? What would have to be done to get it in there? If I was to do this, and I'm seriously considering it, I'd take the trans too, it's a 5 speed. Just lookin' for some insight on this. The car was rearended, so there is no damage to the engine. If any one feels this would be pointless, just let me know. I've never seen this done b4 so maybe we'll have another 1st for a beretta!

Get the whole front end of the car including wiring including wiring and dash, and start from there, cut&weld all the drive train related stuff, maybe some of the suspension if you feel like it and if drive axles require it, you may need custom ones if Cobalt is much wider than Beretta... Then swap over everything electrical replacing all the factory installed wiring from your Beretta, save the connector plugs that you will need to power window motors for example, since they most likely are not the same.

This is a very common way to handle complicated swaps between car generations here on Europe. You will end up with Cobalt SS on Beretta body. :)

It will be a very complicated & time consuming swap. But if you can pull it off then go for it! It's always nice to see something different.

The upper mount is more like the 3400's. If you need help go to the Ecotec Power forum. http://www.ecotecforum.com/forums/
There are many people there that have done swaps into all kinds of things.
Be ready for a big PITA.
GM put some crazy and dumb crap in the computer. Like needing a code to change the battery and if the radio is taken out the car won't start.

haha thanks for the warning MPB, I'm gonna think this over, and I gotta go get my retta checked out to see how badly rusted the thing is underneath and stuff. I'm not sure if it's solid enough to even do anything with, but I'm still in touch with the guy with that Z26, so maybe If I can get it for a lower price like a grand or something then this swap would definetly be in order.
I'll keep this updated as I think things through and do a little research on these ecotecs. Thanks guys.

HP Tuners would help with what I listed. I'm not sure but I think you would also have to change the ALDL. Anybody have any info on that?
