I have a '96 Z26 with a 3100 and the engine just went so I'm deciding whether i want to put a 3400 in it now or not. I found a used 3400 out of a 99 grand am cheap, but i haven't looked at it yet and I'm just wondering how big of a project it would be to get it to work in my Beretta. I've read up on it and i know that the '96 to '99 3X00 engines are very similar, but I'd like to know for sure what I am going to have to swap over, buy, or modify. If somebody could give me a list or any info i need to know to do this I'd really appreciate it. :D

Apply's to the grand am, but gives you a general idea of what to look for as far as differences.

Swapping in to a 96 couldnt be any easier. If you have the ability to replace your 3100 with a 3100, you can swap in a 3400 instead.

Okay, the grand am engine isn't going to happen. It has coolant gunk in the oil so i said forget it, but i found a 3400 out of a '97 pontiac montana. Would this be any different to swap being a van motor?

Nope. They're pretty much all the same as far as swapping in to a Beretta goes. 03+ engines have better intakes, but other than that it really makes no difference.
