Lets see if anyone catches on to what I'm talking about and if anyone is interested in trying to accomplish something like this. If so I'll take the time to document exactly what I do when I do try it, and also throw up my current idea to toss around and see what people think about it.

Are you talking about using the parking lights as DRL's or something else?

Close but not quite...

I'm referring more to the fact that they are UBER bright all the time and when you put your blinker on they change from on to off... Rather than ours that are dim, and switch from dim to bright when blinking.

Now the issues I see with this is making it so it will work even when someone has their parking lights off. Or I can do as you suggested it make it so the front markers are just on all the time like a DRL type setup. (that would solve the below issue)

I have a diagram in my head but I need to think about it more to be sure it will work when the lights are on and off.

So they would turn on and off like the front sidemarkers do now?

Yes, just give them full power when the lights are on, and run the ground to the positive input for the signal. So when the signal flashes to bulb get hot/hot instead of hot/ground. They wont illuminate with hot/hot...that's how the sidemarker circuit works. All you need is to connect both input wires for the light switch to feed and change the ground to an input for the signal. Done deal.

They aren't bright all the time, just during the day. You can get a module to do that.

hrmmm gotta think on it more, woody on your idea just remember if the marker is off the blinker then won't operate.

Cliff makes a good point, I'm starting to think of how to make it so the marker is like DRL bright day time, then when turning on the lights it goes dim, but in either config it will still blink......

and what's this module you speak of cliff?

Then how does the sidemarker work with the lights off? It's the same thing. The ground backfeeds through somewhere. I'm pretty sure you could do the same thing.

The side markers have totally different wiring going to them, so when you interfere with the front the way I was thinking with a relay and such the relay would need a power source to work, and if you were grabbing that from the parking light circuit then it wouldn't blink unless parking lights were on... But with the module being available then who cares, less thinking necessary, and his is grabbing power from the "ignition" circuit as he noted, so it is more of a DRL setup...

This actually gives a better result since now when you do turn your parking lights on the front markers go back to being dim... My setup wouldn't have done that without A LOT of thought... lol
