And where does this "rating" come from?
The SPEC in my Camaro is awesome. I couldn't be happier with it. I haven't torn in to my Beretta yet, but I've got to think it has to have something else working against it...like a rear main seal.

From the SCD bank of infinite wisdom of course! LOL, J/K man. There is a formula for this, if you know the clamping force of the pressure plate, and you know the friction coefficient of the disc, and I think the size of the disc then you can calculate it. Check out this site for some good info.

FWIW I had an exedy clutch in my original 3400/5spd car, and I never had a problem with it, it held up quite nicely.

Maybe im just bitter because they sent me a clutch that didn't work in my car.But if i had the chance to do it again it would be clutchmaster all the way.

I think Devon would agree after everything we went through.

Very interesting. The SPEC stg2 is rated at 310, but I'm obviously not making that much power so I'm not convinced yet it was the clutch's fault. I need to pull that car apart and inspect it finally.
Robert, Geoff's Clutchmaster really didnt feel any different than mine (aside from the one day I had issues with my car).

Cliff has had a Clutchmasters Stage 3 setup on his car since I met him in 2000... it's been on his original 2.8, and his 3400; and believe me when I tell you that he DRIVES that car, usually pretty hard... I think it's been through 3 transmissions and even on a Torsen LSD now.
Basically, that clutch has seen a TON of action, and it's still holding strong 10 years later... lets see your Exedy/Spec/ACT do that.

I've heard nothing but bad things about clutchmasters from the import crowd. The clutch I have in my car right now is a Spec stage 3+. It has a modified pressure plate, and it has held up, and I currently hold the position for fastest FWD configuration Beretta in known existance. So take that however you'd like. Am I 100% satisfied with the clutch? No, of course there is room for improvement. My biggest complaint is the fact that where the pedal engages never stays the same. Barry also has this problem with a Spec clutch. But then Spec doesn't even manufacture its own pressure plates, so REALLY who is to blame for this??
Bottom line is no clutch is perfect, especially for our cars. Someone is going to have a bad experience with every clutch, no matter the brand.
And why there is a clutch discussion going on in Jon's thread is beyond me.

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been that long already. But yeah, it was installed around 2000. 1 engine, 1 flywheel and 2 transmissions later and it's still holding like from what i remember it was new about 60k miles ago.
The original clutch and flywheel on my Alero was replaced at 26k.

I don't think spec is horrible.I really like how quickly the engagement is when you shift.I know alxsmt loves his clutchmaster. And he does nothing but race his car.I agree with the comment that all of them have problems. But what are you going to do maybe after spec sends you 2 or 3 clutches one works for you.
