looking for an instrument cluster for a 91-93 quad 4 gtz for a friend, the temp guage doesnt seem to be working on it and it fluctuates all over the place, everything was replaced except the cluster itself, so thats what were going to try next, if anyone has one they are willing to sell, please let me know, btw, a v6 cluster will NOT work, must be 4cylinder only.

I have Q4 clusters...but test the temp sensor problem with a v6 cluster if you have one. If you want the stock cluster repaired you can send it to my shop for service.

It will not damage anything. The tachometer will not read correctly. I suspect other problem and not cluster. If you swap the cluster and find temp sensor is not correct..check the wire. The wiring at the coolant neck on the top passenger side is a cluster and prone to issues. Was thermostat recently replaced?

Is this the same (I presume so) car you just bought that the OP gauge was ALSO acting stupid on? Now you have a Temp gauge issue? I think it's probably a bad cluster too.

no, this is a friends car, also a 91 gtz, but its red and in MUCH better shape, from what she was told, everything else was replaced, and the auto shop couldnt find the problem, the temp guage just fluctuates like randomly, its not that it isnt working, but it will sometimes read that the car is overheating, or running real cool, and it certainly isnt...

Well, first of all NEVER believe someone because they "said" they replaced this and that , at least without receipts/proof of install , or knowing and trusting the person who said it.
Since I now know this is NOT the same car/cluster, I would tend to agree with Erich and say it's likely a bad sending unit. The temp sender for the gauge. It's right next to the CTS (driver's side of it) on the backside of the water outlet housing. Green wire on it and a green wire with a white stripe also.

thats what i initially though too, but the guy said he tried everything except the actually cluster, i'll throw another one in and see what happens, fwiw, it cant hurt, and its easier imo then swapping the sensor, lol.
