Hi! I'm new to this board & in need of some help...

Due to my own operator malfunction (left the door open) I drained the battery.  When I pulled the hood release this morning...the hood didn't pop.

I'm looking for some assistance - does anyone know another way to get the hood open???

Since the battery is dead & the hood won't open, I can't even drive it to my mechanic.  Thanks for your help.

Kat

This happened on my 96.  I had my wife pull the hood release lever, and then I gave it a couple good whacks right in the middle-front of the hood with the bottom of my fist.  Firmly enough to loosen the mechanism up, but not as to make dents.  That would be bad..lol

Other option is to crawl under with a long screwdriver and manually move the release over.

You can pull that little lever with your fingers, too, toward the driver's side.  It's on the back side of the release assembly extending straight down.  It's made tougher on the Z26 because of the small cutout in the radiator baffle, but it's still doable.

Yup, Jeff is right.  Its so easy to reach infact that I never use my cable anymore.  Why walk around and get the interior of my car dirty when I can just reach through the Z26 bumper lip and pop my hood?  So much easier.
