this looks like a car i was going to buy for $300 bucks last year for parts, it was the one smashed up on the rear driver side 1/4 panel.

Boy that first one is pretty nice looking except for the ugly stick on non-functional hood scoops, but also highly questionable. They did not make GTZ's in 89'. Judging by the interior, I'd say it's an 89' GT with Z ground effects, if it is in fact an 89. It could also be a 90 GT as it has a 3.1 in it, which started in 90', so I don't know whats up with that, looks good though, and he says he bought it new, so maybe he swapped a 3.1 in an 89. I don't know. LOL

im not sure, it has gtz rims. maybe it was built late in 89 and was sold in 90. i thought the same the 3.1 wasnt available until 90 or even 91. the 2.8 was available then though.

the color matched filler panels looks pretty sharp..

they only had quads in the first gtz's in 1990 (all 90 gtz' are quads unless someone has swapped it). new interior in 91 with the 3.1/auto available. i saw this car around town 1-2 years ago, sounds nice, nice muffler, and looked really decent, i think there's blue underglows, and decent headlights... they may only be cheapy blue bulbs, i cant remember.

if it was stick i would go for it... even though i dont have the money... lol

That 89 "GTZ" is a totally converted car. It is either going to be an 89 or 90 just by looking at the engine (look at the EGR valve) and I think it was a converted base (look at the "Beretta" plate on the right side dash). Also, i'll put money on it that the switch on the cluster bezel just to the left of the steering column is for the fog lights. At the very least, the upper plenum has been swapped to a 3.1 piece but what really caught my eye is the 87-88 spark plug wire channel on the left of the plenum...

what are your thoughts on the painted filler panel ? i dont remember seeing anyone on here thats done that, i think it looks pretty good, i have a spare tinted top and a old school lower i might paint and see how it looks.

meh, i prefer the stock tinted-ness

Its not a Z26. Its a base 2.2 auto. I called the guy weeks ago and talked to him. The pic is not the actual car, its just some pic from motortropia.
