Hello All!

I have a Red 1988 GTU that I recently put back on the road. I purchased the car in 2010. Bought it from a for sale ad on another board. Started driving it home from Florida to Michigan, and the motor blew on the drive home. The car sat from April 2010, until last week.

I had a 2.8L V6 long block installed into it, and had a ton of new items installed with it (water pump, sensors, belts, hoses, starter, etc). I also put new tires on her. I am here to learn, chat with other owners, and find parts. This car will be my 17 YO sons car that will take him through his college years. I will post up some photos later.

Thanks for reading!

Mark

Yes I will get pics. I travel a lot for work, so pics are not always an easy thing to do. Unfortunately, it is an auto, fortunately, it is a Beretta!

Hi and welcome. I must say that young people and Beretta's don't mix well. Most of the time the car ends up trashed.

But that doesn't always happen. The base I bought is a prime example. Brandon bought that when he was like 16 or 17 or something. It had been youngstered, but it wasn't beat. :P

This sounds like that red GTU that was for sale on Bstuff and whoever bought it had the motor blow on the way back. Good luck! Hope it works out getting it fixed!

Yes that was me over there, and is the same car.

She has sat for a while, and after many thoughts of parting it, blowing it up, putting in a used motor, etc. I finally decided to invest some $ and put in the long block. She is running well, and my son as shown great pride in the car, as well as taking pride in its appearance and taking care of it. He knows that if taken care of, the car will take car of him on his 45 minute commute to college.

We are going to remove the headliner tomorrow and have it and the sun visors recovered. Next on his wish list is a new stereo that has an iPod hook up and some new speakers. His birthday is on the 15th of next month, and that will be his present.
