Diagnostic testing for computer issued the following indicators:

Engine RPM: 9362
Coolant temp: -40

indicators do not change when you try to start the car. as indicators of stuck throttle angle.

but there are no errors on what any of the sensors are not to be.

It's more likely a bad EPROM (chip) within the ECM rather than the whole unit! But yeah, that's kind of funny, it's junk for sure! lol

If it runs the ECM is not dead. It is probably the prom. I had a prom that did not write correctly before and it ran in limp mode. When my ECM died and the prom was ok it would not start.

The chip you listed says it is for an auto, not a manual trans.

I believe you will want a Vin "L" chip. Those appear to be for Lumina/Grand Prix...not Beretta.

Your computer will have a sticker with a code on it to specify your PROM. The ASWA/ASMT, etc. you listed is the PROM ID. Once you find that code you can get a replacement.

I have a chip for 88 2.8 5 speed but it has a stored trouble code.... If nothing else you can get the part number that's listed on my for sale thread http://www.beretta.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=9265

Sounds good Badbwoy. I'll take a look. The sticker with codes should be on the ECM itself and the PROM code should also be on the prom itself visible through the hole on the blue plastic cover.

Stunna, that PN is just for the prom itself...there are many many calibrations that come programmed in to that same PN.
