Just wondering If anyone knows how to get better flow from a Gen II intake, the little 2.8 needs some more power. I've already looked into extrude honing and ruled it out as too expensive for my daily driver.

You'd probably just be better off swapping to the Gen III stuff...

Yeah? hmmm, the only thing with my situation is that I need my car everyday. I have another set of 2.8 intake manifolds that i could work on, thats all.

a drimmel tool would be a friend to you, if you like to experiment...

Air die grinder is much better if you have a good compressor. Harbor freight sells die grinders, I got my kit for $8 !

Gen3 is the way to go though. It's not worth the time porting the 2.8 stuff.. Never get close to the flow #s of gen3.

Free parts and spare time is always worth the effort, that is if you dont want to expect much in the end.  For N/A long term performance, I'd Gen3 the top end.  For F/I long term performance, leave the ports alone and just crank up the boost.

I agree. Gen III is the way to go.

Large port 3100 or any 3400 is WAY better.

'00 3400 or later top end (including heads) will make you smile.

Full 3400 swap will make you happy!

A 3500 swap and you're going to need Pampers!

The 2.8/3.1 is a damn workhorse, but doesn't flow worth a damn after 5000 RPM.

If you are willing to swap stuff, just swap the damn engine.

www.car-parts.com is a good starting point

hmmm, Ive got a 3400 lying on the bench right now, but thats my turbo project engine. I really don't feel like taking the time to tune the ecm for a new engine while driving back and forth to school. besides, I just rebuilt the 2.8.

I thought you were doing a L67/3800sc swap?

60DegreeV6 has some ported 2.8 manifolds for $200.  Just thought I would throw it out there.  I was thinking about them for my 3.1.

Yeah, the idea for the sc3800 fizzled when I lost the chance to get the engine, I started looking into different avenues, and found that sticking with the 60* engines was more practical. ROLNGTZ, you probably know me from Motortopia.com, on there I'm TCBeretta3400. and that project is on hold until I find host car for the engine.
thanks for the manifold info, but I think I'm going to hold off on this, Ive got bigger plans for a 2800! I'm gathering parts on that project now.
