Anyone know of an aftermarket maker of these or have a pair of gas tank straps that aren't shot? Maybe other years fit? I talked to the dealer today and they are discontinued. I found one "collector dealer" with them and they want 50$ a strap.

It doesn't look like Spectra or Dorman make them... Found a couple links for OE ones though. Who knows if they actually have them...

Ill try one of those. Gmpartsdirect.com only had 1 part number listed for these didn't say left or right. And I found 1 dealer with them like I said who wants a lot. These pages say left and right with a slight price difference, so I'm assuming they are both different? And base or gt doesn't matter?

Hmmm, I just noticed that both my links say discontinued for the left side. But I don't see why you couldn't use the same one on both sides. Yes, they are all the same, gt/gtz/base makes no difference.

Yeah I might be able to get by with the drivers one. But need the right one. Gmpartsdirect.com showed the same number for both. So maybe they both work for either side. Anyways thanks for the link orderd 2 for 42 shipped

Rock Auto doesn't carry them, and the only ones listed on Ebay are listed wrong and were not the right part for his year.

is there really different straps (and tanks) for different years?

edit i guess so, i get 4 options ($14-21) for my '95, and an '88 with a 2.8 gets offered 2 ($17-19)... rockauto

Lots of people carry them for 89's, and 91's are different.

91 was that span of plastic tanks right? I don't remember any of the mounts on the car changing but I could be wrong.

I believe so. I know mounting is the same on both ends, but the length and shape may be different.

I remember when I got mine they were just straight, not shaped at all. but I would agree that the length could pose an issue if they are not long enough to fit the tanks shape.

Sorry for months later reply heh. I was able to re use the old ones, even thought I didn't want to, no choice! everyone who said they had them didn't. I did find 2 places though that just had the rights but I wasn't paying the ridiculous price. Mine are still holding up so far. the left if just slightly longer then the right. I figure if one breaks I will just order a set that's available for the closest year to mine and modify the length by cutting them and welding with rivets to reinforce if needed shorter or cutting and some sheet metal with rivets if needed longer.
