Re: tire question
Very 60-70's!!
But what ever turns your crank.
Check www.tirerack.com or www.discounttire.com or even www.cokertire.com
You'll probably find some.
The size you really want is 225/50/16 to fill the wheel well properly.
Just my .02

Re: tire question
No, a 205 is the width, then the 55 is the percentage of the width which is the size of the sidewall, and then the 16 is the rim size of course...
SO a 205 treadwidth tire has a 112.75 tall sidewall using the 55 profile size...
That leaves a 225 tire to have a 112.5 tall sidewall if you go with the 50 profile size.
I really doubt you'll see .25mm of sidewall height, But what Eric is talking about is a 225 section width fits the stock 7" wide rim MUCH better than the narrower 205 width.
Eric did say fill the wheel well, but that really isn't what it will do, it will just fit the width better.
And yes a 205 is stock size, but did GM ever do anything regarding peek performance and making sure everything fit well? Hell no... they probably opted for the 205 size because that leaves less tire touching the ground which will also increase fuel economy due to less tire resistance, and even less tire weight. But if you ask me, visually a 225 looks MUCH better on a stock 7" rim, AND they will perform much better.

Re: tire question
I have always been partial to Goodyear. I have Eagle F-1's on both of my cars, but there are lots of great tires out there.

Re: tire question
I went for a different brand this time since I wanted a high performance tire but at the same time, not a noisy one, and all for a decent price...

Re: tire question
The Goodyear F-1's are hopeless for "off the line" traction.
They need to be warm/hot and are really meant for corners and highway use.
The ride quality is unsurpassed and quiet.
I love them on both cars, but for drag racing I have the BFG drag radials.
