Re: Project: Slideways z26
Got some work done in the past few days.
Put a RWD subframe in the beretta. HA! not yet, still needs a lot of work until I can bolt it up, but were getting there. First beretta with IRS?
Had to cut a few things to make room....
And im gonna cut more to make it fit even better
I want this thing to be able to be slammed super low but also maintain decent geometry with a normal rideheight for drifting. Thats why I'm keeping this frame as close to the frame as possible.
As for mounting, the front mounts mount right where the stock axle does (within a inch at least), and the rears mount between the frame rails... Easy crossmember will take care of those. SHOCK TOWERS are gonna be a biotchhhh however. Gonna tackle that one once the subframe is mounted. Not looking forward to that one. My trunk is going to look very different.....
Trying to have the subframe mounted this weekend...

Try again... the twin turbo had IRS... GM beat you to it, and I could own that car if I had 10g's burning a hole in my pocket... LOL

Re: Project: Slideways z26
Any luck with getting the rear subframe mounted solid to the car?

Re: Project: Slideways z26
Place when you are done do a write up on it. Eventually i would love to do this swap.
Re: Project: Slideways z26
Subframe isn't mounted yet, didn't have any time this weekend to make it happen. I did order aluminum subframe bushings however. I'm looking for some steel to use as a crossmember.
I am not going to make a write up on how to do this, it's too self explanitory. Cut and weld until it fits and make it tough enough to take a beating

I drift with clubloose in jersey and drift nirvana in west Virginia. There's also some drifting in new York that I may try to get involved in.
Springs are already sold to a local friend

Was going to ask if you sold the exhaust but looks like it's still in the car.

This is very, very interesting.
I'd love to see this accomplished, so I wish you the best of luck! (And ingenuity, lol.)

Re: Project: Slideways z26
Progress has been slow lately. I finished the rear cross member, machined some bushings for the subframe, and thought up an idea for the front mounts.
Unfortunately with the holiday coming up (traveling) I have a lot of crap to get done and wont be able to touch the beretta...
