OBDII harness plugs right into it, and its a 78 tooth tone ring inside the trans, so at his tire size revs per mile of 808.4 you get 63055.2 PPM.... Entered in the ECU and hopefully it works right :)

Stock Beretta trans puts out 40 PPR (Pulse Per Revolution), not 78 PPR. This was one of the problems I had to solve with the swap I did on my GTU. Having the speedometer indicate almost twice as fast as actual speed is fun for a drag-racing video, but isn't that useful for actual driving. Is the ECU for this car being reprogrammed for the 78 tooth F40? That would be the cleanest way to do it, that wasn't an option for my '89 Digital-Instrument equipped GTU... Since the reluctor-ring in the F40 is actually the final-driven gear, grinding off every other tooth with a Dremel sounded like a bad idea  .

Re-read what I wrote... His stock setup put out 30PPR aka 24252 PPM... I changed that value to reflect the 78 tooth ring that is on the diff of the F40 vs the 30tooth one that is on the 4t60e. Problem should be solved...

I can't see why you cannot re-program the PPM value in the 89 either.

It depends on what you look at as stock. The Quad 5 speed was stock... but for the 96 harness I am using the 4T60E was stock lol

I'm referring to the ECU values and what it read. And a 282 trans also has a 29 or 30 tooth ring IIRC for the speedo, I don't remember having to change Geoff's PPM value when I was tuning his car.

It's 29 on a 282, just verified against Woody's pic of his diff on the floor...

That is what I thought you were saying, I was just clarifying that you were reflashing the ECM. So far as my '89 ECM, I don't have chip-burning equipment, so I solved the problem with what I had access to. I tack-welded a spare 282 reluctor-ring onto the CV tulip, and swapped-over a later-model ABS Beretta spindle and swapped new brake-parts in place. It works fine, not as neat-and-clean as a reflash of course. My build-notes say the 282 used a 40-tooth reluctor-ring, but that was a typo -the 40-tooth reluctor is from the S-15 that donated the digital cluster currently in my '90 Turbo 'Retta (until I get around to redoing it with the Cutlass Supreme digital cluster I have waiting for it). I had both projects going on concurrently, hence the confusion. I couldn't find this info for the 282 anywhere when I was planning-out my build last year, it was very frustrating.

Good luck Shawn, looks like you are well on your way. Personally, I wish I had someone like you or Tyler nearby to collaborate with on builds -you guys are lucky to have support from each other, IMO. Cheers guys.

Thanks. It is different having 2-3 Beretta owners local. Andy is still 10 minutes away but got out of Berettas and who knows where Kevin went now.

regardless of where the car is. i think we have made a pretty big achievement getting all the stuff that we have to work. This car has come a hell of a long way since i first saw it and i think that is pretty sweet! ill get some pictures up tonight if i get the chance of the fuel pump install, rear brakes, and hopefully the front swaybar in.

I know a lot of people in the group didn't like that I took the rarity out of this car by putting a V6 and all that in.. but I am glad the rarity is gone. I was afraid to make the car what I want because of that.

The overall plan is all the darker plastic trim on the interior is going to gloss black.

I am covering up the ZR1 shift pattern with vinyl (i tried using several different methods to remove the shift pattern to leave the brushed aluminum but no luck) then putting a emblem I got from Rodney Dickman on the shift plate that has the right shift pattern on the shift plate.

I am also ordering factory suede ZR1 black suede with red stitching e brake handle and boot to custom fit on the center console to match the shift boot.

Sometime during this winter I am sending off the factory Beretta steering wheel to get covered in black suede with red baseball stitching. Already have a price quote for it.

If all that gets done and I have extra money I want to get the factory seats redone in black . I haven't found a place to do that yet.

Future? I think within the next couple years I would like to get the car painted the same color as my 2010 Malibu. Its black granite metallic.

I would love Cayenne red.. but since its a factory black car I just want to make it a deeper black..

Here's a couple pics.

It can be tough sometimes taking a more unique car like this and modifying it. But the main thing to remember is that it is YOUR CAR. It doesn't belong to history, to other board-members, or to GM. They had their chance with it, someone else could have bought it if they wanted to, so now it is your turn. Especially since you seem to be respecting the car, no one should cry foul here.

Very good progress!! I like alot!! I lucked out that my 20yr old trans that Barry pulled for me was in really good shape. 6spd and that zr1 shift knob looks sweet!

What fuel pump did you use? I'm about to get a new walbro kit for my car and want a bolt in pump. My fuel pump is old, loud and weak and can't feed the 3500 enough fuel.

I've read the FPG169 kit from here is a bolt in for our cars...

http://www.autoperformanceengineering.c ... papps.html

You car will haul ass believe me!! I've been driving my car 3 days a week to work since i finished it, and it doesn't get old!! (even if it bogs past ~5k rpm) I can't wait to floor this sucka!

Very good job indeed! Now cam that bish! :D

I got alot of mixed feelings from people on the FB Beretta group when I posted pics of the 3500 going in my Z..

When I was still doing the 5 speed. It was all bolt in. Everything was reversible.

With the 6 speed, we were trying our best to make it bolt in. There was just no way around it though and we had to cut the stock 5 speed mounts off. Like I said before, it would be easier on the factory auto cars you would only have to cut out one mount.

The whole reason I went with the 6 speed was because I didnt want to go through what I did with the Quad. I didnt want to dump money into another 20 year old 5 speed trans to find out it was junk. Plus the fact that the only shift cables you can get for a 5 speed are only found in junkyards. I wanted to modernize it. Now I have a 3500 with 53k on it, and a G6 6 speed trans with 60k on it. aaaannnnddd OB2! lol.
