It'll change the length just enough to require a shorter shaft. And I stand corrected, It's actually a 4t60e HD parts from a 96 Bonneville. I wonder if that will still mess with the axle length... Not looking forward to having to find another shaft. I believe it's still the 4t65e style Diff, just the output shaft from the diff to the drivers side is a special 4t60e only part... Used in 95-96 SC'd applications. This is all new to me so when I get it next week it's going to be an experiment...

All the 60E's I've ran across had fixed housings. I would investigate what you are getting a little further to make sure its a HD trans.

What do you mean fixed housings? It's a 4t60e-HD differential and output shaft and passenger axle CV.
Jeff is well versed as to what needs to be swapped to make this happen. It's also the 3.29 fine pitch fwd cut diff so it's the same as the final drive ring that is in my housing right now.
If it don't fit I'll be sending it back for a refund... LOL

the 65E-HD has removable diff housing. All the 60E's I've ever ran across had fixed. As you are VERY aware, you must disassemble/breakdown the whole trans to get to your diff as it is now. 65E's, not the case.

The 60e has the same removable diff housing... I can kick my diff since it's sitting on the ground right next to my desk so um yeah my transmission is already in 100 pcs in my garage awaiting it's bath in the parts cleaner and re-assembly. And actually you can change the diff just as quick on this as the 65e... The only limitation is you need a diff that has the same gear pitch and direction... mine being Fine and fwd cut... not reverse like 95 or coarse and fwd like 94 and older.

Slinky? No I built his whole driveline any if anyone was going 65e by my hands it would be my car first... I don't do experiments with other people's cars.

I contemplated going 65e but with what I had invested in this trans and the only issue was torque converter and lsd slipping a bit I couldn't justify starting from scratch.

Well then... That took a bit of time but I got my bottom end back yesterday. I hope to have it up on the stand tonight and going through some cleaning then test assembly to measure some things.
