You have done a ton of work to that car -I really respect the fact that you are making it your own. I like the two-tone look on those door-panels too. Hmm, gives me ideas... :good:

Thanks Man.. I basically dedicated the early years of my life to this car. Then I gave up on it, it sat for 5 years 2.5 of it outside (uncovered). The entire interior was completely destroyed from being outside, its all junk now. I just put my new headliner in and the 91+ rear quarters, seats and rear speaker deck in. Dash is almost complete now I need to find 91+ door panels, order new carpet and find some seats (cobalt SS).

Those door panels and dash you see in the pics were all painted with a flexible interior plastic paint, it held up really well.

I did the door-panels in my second 300ZX in black, with SEM. That car was a bit of a hodge-podge, with the 'best' pieces the previous owner could put together using the black, grey, taupe/brown and original maroon interiors he had available. Although the styles were slightly different (different years), the door panels looked really good when I was done, and I even picked-up a black dash to swap in (I still have it in storage). It was a well-loved car before someone destroyed it through a senseless act of arson.

I know there are other good brands of vinyl dye / spray paint out there, and I intend to try some of them too, but SEM is the benchmark for me in interior vinyl/fabric paint. What brand did you use, do you remember?

I believe it was SEM but I need to got to the parts store (Lordco) to see exactly, they had a sh!t load of colors. I remember they had like 4 or 6 different variations of black. I'm going to re use the same product to paint all my trim black.

Here's mine from the trip to Denver in 2013. This was at the top of Mt. Evans, tallest drivable point in North America at 14,270 ft.

Nice clean look, love the color I need to get my windows tinted now that I see yours. Are your windows on your doors done to?

Thanks! I've got 20% all the way around (minus the windshield). Those wheels are temporary... I've got new ones to put on once I get some time to get the other things done on the car...

I hiked that road in November one year a long while back -hiked in from Echo Lake through the Chicago Lakes Campground trail, then cross-countried it to Summit Lake and followed the road from there. It was an overnight hike too -so I was there at about 1:00 A.M. Cold as #e!! I went to mix up some powdered Gatorade, and the water froze in my cup before I could drink it! Thank goodness for the little shelter cabin at Summit Lake -I'm not sure I would have made it back down without taking a long respite in there before sunrise...

We are not allowed to tint front windows here. I used to get pulled over probably 3-5 times a month in this car, cops don't like it because its different.. I have been given at least 3 vehicle inspections (that I can remember) because its "Too Low" or its "Been modified". F#&KIN cash grab if you ask me, cost me minimum 100 bucks each inspection.

Wow, that would piss me off! I get pulled over for tint fairly frequently but I've only been written once...and that's with 6 cars I've had with illegal windows. I used to get loud exhaust stops all the time too. But you know what's funny? I've never been stopped in the Camaro for anything. I think cops like hot rods. haha

Your Camaro is probably nice enough and old enough to be respected. I have been pulled over for virtually everything that could be excused in my 'old' '88 Camaro... "Your windows are too dark." (Well, they were 5% limo back then  but I prefer 20% these days, which is still too dark to be legal in most places.) "Your brake lights don't work." (Not when I'm using engine compression-braking to slow down instead of brakes, they don't. Check 'em now that I am on the pedal...) "Your factory tail light lenses are gone. You need them." (Not where I lived at the time -by statute, the tail lights just have to be red or amber, and have to have a reflector too. Third-gen taillights look pretty cool without the lenses, with red bulbs and strategically-placed reflector tape. I didn't keep them that way long though, I eventually upgraded to Z-28 tails.) "You didn't stop at that intersection." (I didn't have a red light, thanks.) "I didn't see your headlights, were they on? I see them now..." (Yes, they were on. But in all fairness, I had louvers across them, so they worked great but were not glaring into people's eyes as bad as stock. I've had louvers, home-made or otherwise, on four or five of my vehicles -the Camaro was the only one that ever got stopped for it -twice.) "You made a U-turn after you saw me." (So, it was a LEGAL U-turn, and I had it planned before I saw you.) "You don't have a driver's side door." (Neither do a lot of Jeeps. It isn't legally required. I had to go to the hardware store for nylock nuts to install the new window-glass in my door, which was off the car to be worked on in part because of the broken glass... :pardon: Less than two miles each way, and this guy almost caused an accident making an ILLEGAL U-turn to come after me for it. But hey, you could see I had my seat-belt on, and my window certainly wasn't too dark. ) "You were swerving." (I never left my lane, and I was swerving because of the severe road-damage, potholes, etc. right there. Am I expected to just drive through them and bottom-out my car while risking blowing a tire? Seriously? I actually got stopped once on my old Honda 750 for that too -by a cop who claimed she was a motorcyclist too -no common sense obviously though. %) ) "You were speeding." "You were speeding." "You were speeding, a lot." (Well, okay, so I usually was back then. What can I say, I'm feeling muuuch better now! ) Aside from a couple of the speeding stops, I don't think I ever got a ticket for what they claimed they pulled me over for. It would have been much less insulting to me if they had been honest and just said, "Hello, I am stopping you today because you are in a Camaro, it is some shade of red, and it is beat-up, and I found an excuse, or I made one up." I am not saying I didn't offer them excuses on a silver platter from time to time, but being different shouldn't be a valid reason for a stop if the vehicle and driver are still within the boundaries of law and are acting safely. Oddly enough, I never once got stopped because of the exhaust on the car -a lot of the time it was just an open Y-pipe under the car exiting through a hollow cat, and was loud enough I probably should have been stopped for it.

A family member was in law-enforcement around that time, and came to me laughing one day saying that one of the officers he had been riding with confirmed my suspicions by saying, "Oh, a Camaro, man I look for excuses to pull them over!"

True. This wasn't the first off-topic post here, though. Just being conversational, as the Board is mostly dead these days. Feel free to ignore any/all posts from me that you want to. :good: Including this one, AND the last one... :pardon: Oops, too late! :D
