So I recently saved a GTZ from certain doom.
From what I can tell this project is going to be hell but GTZ's have a bit of sentimental value to me so I plan on reviving this to the fullest.
Heres a lil model info...
1990 Garnett GTZ Quad 4
From what I was told the previous owner had it rebuilt and someone either A. Had the timing way off or B. Milled the head to far down and a valve decided to take a bite out of a piston so nothing is usable to me in there. The body isnt that bad with a few dents here and there but not really that bad. The interior has a leak so it has been sitting and collectiong mold and mildew for who knows how long. Its gross........and now for some pics

Awesome, that's going to look nice when you're done! What are you going to do about the engine?

Actually I am trying to aquire a block to use and I plan on rebuilding it with better than stock replacement parts to make it a lil more reliable. Thats all nothing too wild. It will be a nice lil car when Im done.....basically it will be completly back to brand new by the time Im done. All stock except Im going to have it all done in white to match my first GTZ.

Update to my mess here.......All fuel lines and all brake lines pulled...as well as the engine harness has all been pulled.............I just have to say that those fule lines were a mess....I dont know what happened under there but you will be delighted to know that all of it is being replaced with steel lines and a high output fuel pump. That is all.

That's a good idea. There's something to be said for stock cars. Yeah, the fuel lines can get pretty nasty sometimes. Good luck on your project and keep us updated!

Update time once again
All interior is now gutted including all electrical all carpet and padding as well as all interior panels.....front door panels and rear panels as well.......To make it easier for you to imagine....its all metal in there now...there is nothing and I mean nothing left.....surprisingly no runt in it considering the sunroof has been leaking for the past four or five years. Found something interesting you all might get a chuckle out of.....a 1990 Entertainment Magazine featuring Bill Cosby and the Hot new POP band Wilson Philips as thier main story. HAHAHA.
Anyway now to pressure wash and Dynomat. Ordering new carpet soon and wondering if anyone has a good color scheme to go with an all white exterior...I was thinking just simple black but if anyone has a good idea im up for it.

It's amazing how resistant these cars are to rust on the inside even with standing water No suggestions from me on the color scheme.

I would have to agree....I was literally astonished that there isnt even a hint of rust in there.

I would say to go with the simple black plan that you have. That will look the best in my opinon.

Long Awaited update:
New .020" over block has been aquired...just finished painting it....almost all parts have been aquired. New cast pistons and found a set of Titanium rods for cheap....new crank and of course all new bearing and things of that sort in the bottom end....build will start shortly.......still need a head havnt gotten around to that yet.....just need a good DOHC cast if anyone has a bare one lying around. Body has been stripped and sandblasted and is now sitting in primer and all brake lines and fuel lines have been installed. Went with a 10 gallon fuel cell custom made into the trunk and removed the heavy *** tank that used to reside under the ***. Well other than the motor build and the paint and interior she is looking good. Pictures will be posted asap and im sure you all are looking forward to seeing it.

Sounds like fun. If I ever get the time & cash to buy some internals I'll soon have my empty block all together... Pipe dreams :heh:

Just a word of caution for those reading; do not sand blast unless absolutly necessary since it is very easy to break through the galvanizing that makes our cars last so long.
