Question

Post by brndnbess »

I just bought a 91 beretta gt for 700$. Don't no much about these cars so I'm not going to start asking questions such as where can I buy parts, what should I do to the car first, as I can use the search button to find that kinda info. What I would like to know is are these cars good cars for doing semi performance mods to. I know the intake manifold gaskets are horrible on these cars so I already bought a felpro gasket to replace the stock gasket to stop any leakings happening before they do. So main question being is are these cars a good car for semi performance?

probably depends on what you mean buy semi-performance, I would say good upgrades to consider are suspension componets(shocks, springsmaybe sway bar),brake upgrades(better rotors and pads)if you want to go more in depth, you could go for the 5 speed conversion if you have an auto, maybe a cam, exhaust, intake or maybe a newer engine 3.1 or 3.4

you dont need to worry about the intake gaskets on the 3.1, just the newer 3100.  A 3400 swap can be done for under $750 and will make around 150 whp with a manual.  You could just nitrous that sucker or supercharge/turbo it as the lower compression 3.1 lives pretty long when one of those three things are used correctly.  Nitrous costs around $450, supercharger/turbo can be anywhere from $700-4000.

I think I'm going to go with this 3400 swap you spoke of. I'll have to search the forums so I can get some more info on this since I have no clue what that is besides putting a dif engine in. But if that swap alone will give me 150whp then that will work for me. Thanx for the info and help guys, time to do some research on this swap.

You'll probably be pretty happy with the 3400.
