Spring 2007 - Progress! Or...

Not being able to do anything in the tent, and lots of work to do, 2 storage rooms were turned into tiny garage on the house.

Image
Lookie, it's the happiest car around, no more cold and wet tent.

Image
This is the working space i have when the rear bumper touches rear wall.
In the tent, i didn't have any room when the car was in. So this is a huge
upgrade compared to that, Oh and i can take the bumpers out to get more room.

Image
I used some time to plan the lightning so that i have the most light under hood and on the wheels where i need it. It came up really good.

Goods:
- Heated
- Floor, no more mud for me ;)
- Power (what also means lights and radio)
- Water outlet
- Tools and stuff in there, faster to get.

Bads:
- Could be bigger
- Could look better
- I need to carry a ramp for the door if i want to drive in\out

Now, to get back on the car:

Toys for the interior! I bought this long time ago, but didn't install before.

it's your GTZ? why does it has a 5500-6000RPM redline? and I think you should reconsider your exaust setup. while really Quiet it might no be really effective ( mostly because of added weight and the way the gasses have to go back when your setup is closed) Besides that it,s a really nice to see a beretta getting P-I-M-P 'ed

I hadn't noticed your redline on the dash before.  That is very low for a Quad.  Does the RPM read correctly?  It must be from a base 4-cyl model with a tach to work correctly AFAIK.  V-6 will read differently.

The Alpine unit was probably for an disk changer or something.

Thats the base 2.2 dash where i took the pic, cause GTZ still has the old dash in, i'm going to swap it very soon to newer style with everything else.

Gotta say its going to be a nice ride. For those surface rust areas use POR15. It comes in differnt colors and is bullit proof. All you need is a paint brush and rubber gloves. Undercoating the body, painting my frame and suspension of my '85 Monte SS with this stuff. Its the sh!t.

Thinking about getting a 94(?) GTZ 3.2 5 speed for $300. Body is in great shape, interior is rough but dash is all there. Engine has 40k on a rebuild but has been sitting for 4 years and mice have chewed up the wire harness. My '92 may become a parts car LOL!

Today is a bad pic day. Better ones coming when more progress.

While waiting my orders to arrive, i have done some minor interior changes:

- Dash and steering column swap 99% complete
- Clusted needles painted red.
- a\f ratio gauge and adjustable shiftlight mounted
(ghettorig install but very functional, i dont care for fiberglass show-installs.)

Aluminium(real) pedal covers installed.
It was a nighmare putting them there cause the screw placement, and gas
pedal cover was too small, but it will do now, cause no better options.
Oh and i dont know why i put em there, dont ask...
Im going to do a custom mathing footrest too.
That's because i'm not going to use the kickpanels on this one, no front speakers for me.

5 lil switches to shifter plate, all of em have small light to tell if it's on.
First controls the twin fans on\off (has blue light if on)
Second turns the a\f ratio gauge on\off (red light)
Rest 3 are still unplugged but 2 of em will control the exhaust cutout when
it's done, fifth is for future use.

Im planning to drop the subframe with everything on it to get working with the engine and tranny,
this will be a huge challenge in my tiny new garage, starting when my parts arrive here.
I'm going to paint the blower cover and do things like that when the engine is off the car.

(2008/6 edit: This is the point where this project gets out of hands! )

Glad to see the garage.  That will be nice.  A small garage is also easier to heat.
