Moving problems.....

Post by brndnbess »

Ok the car starts up great, no problems. It idols perfect. But when u hit the gas, in nuetrul or when trying to drive, the car starts bogging down and will eventually die if u hold it too long or give it to much gas. Sometimes you can hit the gas pedal in nuetral and the car will just try to die, wont even rev up. Any ideas what this could be. Already checked to see if the exhuast was clogged up, its fine. Just did a tune up, plugs/wires, air filter, all the works. Any ideas?? I was thinking maybe coil packs or the ignition module.

Or maybe fuel injectors....They may need to be cleaned or even replaced.  It doesn't sound like they can keep up with the demand for whatever reason.

I have pulled the injectors out and let them soak in injector cleaner. Then I ran injector cleaner thru the gas. I hooked up fuel pressure guage up to the fuel rail and it was running 35psi. The recommendation for those cars are 30 1/2 to 42 psi. Any other suggestions, because I am stumped!!!!!

Check the TPS sensor for bad spots in it.  Perhaps MAP too.

I had a similar problem on my car and it was a faulty ECM.  It would act like that while driving all of a sudden, then i would just tap the ECM with my hand a couple times and it would go back to normal.

Ok well I ended up finding and fixing the problem. It was actually a couple of things. When I got the iginition module from advance auto parts they gave me a bad ignigiton module. So I returned that one and put the new one on, and the car acted alittle better but there was still something wrong. Found that fuel injector number 6 was shorting out and in doing so shorted out fuel injector number 4 and 5, but that only happened every now and then. Last problem was the map sensor. So after hours and hours of beating myself I finally got it all figured out. Thanks for the replys and help guys.
