what brand is it? It may be due to a problem with the MAF sensor that happened during installation but not very likely.

Well you are getting more air into your fuel so more power but with power you get heat. Check your coolant level. Does it seem like it idles higher than it did before you added the air intake? Try disconnecting the battery for like 5 min. And see if that does not reset the comp. and hope fully it will work out.
