Hi all, i currently have a I think dieing 3100 96 Base and I need to fix it. My buddy that recently wrecked his 2002 GTP said he would sell me his perfect engine for $500. I've heard the swap to a 3800 is hard, but please, tell me what i need to do to do it. I've searched on here and bstuff and I haven't come up with what i really NEED to do to put her in. I am peaty sure I will have access to all the parts on the front end of his GTP so i won't have to worry about getting to a yard for little stuff. Thanks for the help in advance!

Not worth it.  You'll need to weld in mounts, redo the wiring, and add major supporting brackets/sections to help with the flexing of the unibody structure.

Swap in a 3400 and tune it with DHP.  You already have obdII.  If you want more power, turbo, n2o or a rebuild with PP/Cam/Headers will net you a good streetable number.

Search and thall shall find thE answer.

It is alittle bit harder than putting a 3400 in but the performance is so much better. got to love all that boost
If you automotive skills at 5 out of 10 then i would go to 3400 if you really know what your doing then a 3.8 might be a option.
If you go to a 3.8sc i could help you out with some info.
I wish my speed shop was up and running. I'm working on building a full front k member and radiator support that is all in one peice.

6r8ph1X, If you want to run a 3800S/C, go for it bud. Dont let anyoen tell you otherwise. Im about to drop one in my car. I know its alot of work but it is a labor of love, and it is something that I want.Anything else would not be the same. Just make sure you get the wierings harnes and ECM. Anything else, just ask. I have a buddy who is dropping a Northstar in his Beretta, ( GM Master Tech) so if you have any questions, I can find the answers for you.  And before everyone gets all pissed and tells me to F&*$ off, I will have pictures of his project soon.
