just bought a 3400
hi peeps well i just bought a 3400 out of a 2004 pontiac grand am,
well so far im gathering the things i need so i can do all of my work in one go,, meaning i wont have to stop to find parts when im working,,, could take ages to do all this work btw lol
well any ways im working on a 95 beretta that has a 2.2,,, for those that seen my other post i returned the 96 and thought id go very custom ,,, oh boy let the good times roll
well any ways, i wanna upgrade the factory tranny
and i was looking at a 4t45e and i know it wont fit with out modding some creative mounts,,
now i want to upgrade the gear ratio while im rebuilding what ever tranny i go with more then likely im leaning towards the 4t45e but i know it wont go easy
can some one tell me a good gear ratio to go with that will give me more but yet not kill the gas that much..
and also heres another question to throw out i know ill have to upgrade/custom the rear end,,
can some one shed some light on that for me.. im not sure wha to do there, i just read about it some where..
btw im trying to build a 3400/3500 hybrid with a turbo, so i hope that helps some peoples ideals
and one last questions whats the newest type of car i should hunt for to try to get some 3500 parts meaning the entire top end (heads and upper/lower intake).
thanks.. i hope some one can give me a few thoughts and pointers..

I thought that the 3100 only had 43k on it. You gave it back? I would have killed for that ( I had 213k on my car before the cab trashed it). You will need to make new mounts for the engine. Also you will need the computer, wire harness, fuel pump, coil springs and many other things. Are you sure you know what you are getting in to?

lol yeah unfortunatly my wife claimed that 43k beretta as her own,, all i know is,, the day i got it here, she drove it once and never gave the keys back,,
well atleast i still have my truck i can drive.. but as for the 95 beretta,, yea its kinda rough situation on things to do,, but to be honest with you, i kinda figured i would get a real mechanic to do the major work on it,, like engine and tranny, and the rest i would do my self,, like messing with any parts for the engine that i dont have to fabricate new mounts for lol like the tranny and engine,, its probably gonna cost a mint, but i really do like this car,, and i have big plans for it..
so any other advice you can give me, sure would be nice..
as for the 43k beretta,, heres a few pics of it,, its sad my wife wont let me touch it lol

a real mechanic wouldnt touch your car. because they would be stuck with it if something went wrong.

well your engine is a OBDII your car is not. So you will need to upgrade your interior harness, get a 1996 + PCM, 1996+ Engine harness. There is write up on Bstuff I know for sure but maybe someone has it. You might as well not even say put a turbo on it. That is a whole other setup. Trust me I started with just a swap and OBDII conv. and now I have a whole new susp. And yes you will need custom engine mounts. You project is basically like mine. And FYI be prep. for spending lotsof money. Tranny stuff I cant help you there.

like steph said no macanic is going to do a custom job. i couldn't even get them to dianose my 4t65-e problems on my 3.8sc. even though all they had to do is hook up the scanner.

Wow, that is one clean car! The paint looks like glass. Wish I had one, well I wish that I had any Beretta right now. With all the work you need to do you will be here for a long time(that's a good thing though).

if he has a 95 beretta he doesnt need custom engine mounts he just needs mounts from a 3100 beretta. along with a whole bunch of misc parts from one. www.3400swap.com

the car has a 2.2L in it. he needs mount work! he will prolly need to cut into the right side of the engine bay like I had to.  Unless the mounts are different on the 1995 2.2 4 banger.
I think the pics are of a different car. (his wifes)

Do you not speak english?
Get the engine mounts from a 1994-96 Beretta 3100/v6 to put on the 3400 that is going into the 95 2.2 car.
If you dont know what your talking about just stop talking to spread misinformation.
87-91 use old style mounts 92-96 are the newer mounts, if I wanted to I could swap the quad 4  from my 92 GTZ into my 96 Z26 there is no cutting or fabricating anything. I dont know how many times this has been gone over.  SEARCH

that sounds pretty good on getting the engine mounts off of a newer beretta to fit the 3400 in..
now as for the tranny, if i just take a 4t60-e off of a newer beretta would it fit on my 95 with out the need for making new tranny mounts ? and if so would i have to change the rear end to handle it.. im thinking yes on the rear end upgrade ,but i dont know for sure.

well so far after searching it looks like a yes that ill have to upgrade the AXLE , so that it will be able to handle the 4sp but as for mounts on the tranny i still dont know, does any body have any ideal on what i could do for the tranny mounts to mount the 4t60-e off of a beretta ? is there an easy way or is welding the only way to go ?

it bolts directly on, if you get a 3100 beretta 4t60e, you can also use corsica, grand am, etc. you can also use the axles.
