Ideals for more hp on a 3.1 4sp automatic

hi all, im contemplating the ideal of just beefing up the 3100 and since im not a mechanic and im learning everything from scratch id like to see/hear peoples ideals on what i should do to get more hp out of this 3100 engine,, i know i want to add a turbo to it  but not sure what type

if you know of a good turbo kit for it,, please tell me..

and also the reason im thinking of keeping this 3100 instead of swapping it out for a 3400/3500 turbo hybrid  is because the miles are so low on it,, 43k and all stock, the cars been babied and parked in a garage alot  it only had one owner and that was an old lady,,

well so far im thinking of a performance chip and a way better exhaust other then that i dont know,, im kinda in the dark here as to what i should really do.

so any ideals that you guys can come up with to help me get the most out of this new engine that would be sweet
