Tow Dolly question
hi guys i found a great deal on a wrecked beretta.. and it has lots of parts that i want for my project,, but its like 5 hours from where i live,,
well i want to rent a uhaul tow dolly and go get it but i feel theres a problem,, im not sure how its possible to get its front end on a tow dolly,, because the car has front end damage so im pretty sure its not gonna start up.. so that means some how its gonna have to be manually put on the dolly.
my wife thinks we can just push it up on the dolly,, lol,, i dont think thats possible..
can some one give me some ideals on what to do,, and if i cant go the tow dolly route,, what shouuld i try,, because obviously having it towed by a tow truck would be pricey at that distance..
if i cant do this in a affordable way,, im afraid ill have to pass on the great deal..

Someone told me that car dollies aren't really looked to highly upon on interstates or other large highways. so its probably not the best way to do it.
but like I said, someone told me and It may not be true. find out the rules In NC. are you heading into other states? you might want to look into their rules too.

well so far i havnt seen any thing about them not being illegal in any states, because ive seen them used and ive even seen my dad use them to transport cars from michagin to nc
and besides do you really think uhaul and pensake companys would build them if they'd be illegal on roads to use,, no they are completly legal m8
btw they come in 2 flavors,, flat bed and the regular tow dolly
but its all good btw it turns out that car i was looking at actually runs so it can be pulled up on a dolly,, now the biggest delema is,, do i really want it..
but thank you for your advise,,, every bit of advise is always good,,

Tow dollies are road legal on all highways pretty much in all 50 states and definitely on Interstates. I just drug the new Laser home from Albuquerque at 70mph on the I-40 and coming back from NC the other day I saw like 30 of them on the I-40 on the way home and about 10 or so flatbed U-haul car carriers along with a crapload of pickups hauling 2 and 3 cars at a time on big trailers.
As to loading, you COULD push it up on the dolly if the damage isn't too severe to the front but it WILL be a bit of a chore. I would suggest a comealong. Afix it to your bumper and pull the car up on the dolly with the comealong. GL bud.

Maybe they were thinking of tow-bars where the car is on all 4 wheels?

NP! And again, the dollies are fine on the highways. Drug the new 'retta home from Gilbert's house in El Paso with a dolly. 5 hours through Texas and New Mexico , passed a assload of troopers, no troubles. Also the tow bars are acceptable but usually only behind RV's. The cops MIGHT frown on those behind a truck , but I see them used that way too.

penfold took my 91 GTZ back on a dolly. which was like a 7 hour drive I believe. me and my buddy picked up a 93 civic hatchback with a dolly before and we had to push it on to it. no issue.

I bought a Beretta off of ebay that was a total POS it didn't even make it home. It died out in front of a waffle house and when I came back with the u-haul and tow dolly the waitresses helped me push it up on the dolly.
