anyone in pa or near pa have a quad z?

Post by speedygtz »

cuz the 90's have the seatbelts on the door for one, 2. there were 13,000 of them made, making them very common, 3. there collecter status vs a 91-94 is a lot lower, 4. i dont like the interior style at all not one bit, 5. just dont want a garnet, black, or white z. i was looking into a 94 quad z before bstuff went down, now i got to wait for that dam site to get back up to get some info on it, so im more anxouis about the site comming back to life then the rest of you's!

I highly doubt you will find what you are looking for just around the corner.  I'd rock a 90 no problem. throw a 3.94 FDR tranny in one day and it will be faster then a 92+ 3.94 FDR car due to slight weight difference.

Sousas car is just what you are looking for. Pick it up and get used to a quad, get the little issues sorted out and then sell it for a grand or so and then put it in the bank and keep looking. There is no problem with a 90 I have driven 90's 91's and 92's.  up above that the cars are slower.  Even though 90 is the most popular year, with 13,000 produced that is still a low limited production number. I like working on the 90/91s more then the 92's for small stupid reasons such as the difference in cooling systems. easier to find parts for at the yard if need be. Its easy to upgrade the transmission to the 3.94 with either an external or as I did internal slave cylinder setup. This swap alone will make a 90 gtz stock for stock the fastest of all the years.

if I'd get another one It would be a 90 to 92. leaning more towards 90 and 91 just due to the familiarity of them and the more common platform for the quad (even though the mount system sucks)

I had to drive about 3 hours for my GTZ down towards baltimore, Penfold who bought mine drove 7 hours to come pick it up. Mike Morris and Eric both flew to another part of the country (for Eric one country to another)  to buy their GTZ's and drive them home.

Due to the rarity of the car and your pickiness you wont be finding one local any time soon or even at all anytime soon. You are in the same situation as me looking for a 90/91 Calais or 442 Q4HO. Not an easy task.

I say buy sousas and there you go, you have a quad GTZ. might not be what you exactly want but it will introduce you into the world of the Quad 4 Motor. who cares about the seatbelts, the production numbers of that year.  For the price you want to pay for one, you wont find one for a grand that would be deemed a "collector" status.

Mike's car would be considered a collector car with the shape it's in and its a 90 with over 90,000 miles. it is probably the nicest stock beretta you will ever see with that kind of mileage.

Take what you can get man. just get into a quad GTZ of any year and then go from there.

yea, i know im a picky sob, but i dont want to dump money into a quad z that i dont want, i dont want to work on something i dont want, and i never said i was out to make it fast, not that im not going to overhaul the sob, but thats another story... i just didnt like the interior styles or colors, im sorry, but i didnt, and i had money saved up, i was never expecting something to be around the corner, i would have traveled to virginia, west virginia, mass,cn,nj,ny,de,md, pretty much any state within 6 hours from here wouldnt have been a bad deal.
