Passengers side markers out
So, this new beretta I picked up, 95 beretta 3.1, 181k miles.
Got an issue with the passengers side markers not working, changed the bulbs, checked the wiring..looks ok. Are the drivers side markers and the passengers side markers on a different circuit? I see on the fuse panel cover that fuses 2, 5, and 7 are marked "Exterior lights".
Any help?

Did you make sure the contacts in the socket are still good? The contacts tend to corrode and fall apart. Then when you pull the old bulb out, it takes the corrosion with it and a new bulb will not fix the problem at hand.

No, didn't check that..so before I go hacking off the socket and replace it, what can I try?

Clean out the socket with some PB blaster and wipe it clean. Then inspect it for two metal contacts. If there are none, then you can goto AZ and buy a replacement for I think 10.00 or find one from someone on here (I might actually have a few spares) .... Or go to the junkyard your self and try and find some good ones. If the metal contacts are in there, test the circuit for power and ground all the way up until you do find a short/break in the wiring.
Simple fix.

Okay, checked it, and the contacts are there. Autozone sells new sidemarker bulb housings, they're 2.49 on their site. I'll try that route.

If the Contacts are there and not corroded then don't replace the socket. go get a cheap ohm meter and check the continuity of the wires, shouldn't be any more that .5 ohms in the wire, even that # is high.

Well, the rear passenger..it was replaced by the previous owner. I know this by the "great" job of splicing the wires the previous owner did. I get underneath the rear bumper and twist the bulb out and the 2 wires come completely off. So, my guess was that they were poorly spliced and dry-rotted due to being exposed.
The front passenger had a short, make a complete cut, respliced and soddered, put a layer of shrink wrap and melted it to prevent exposure and now it works like a charm.
