I'm nuts!

Post by Money pit Beretta »

Thanks 6r8ph1X, I may end up getting a new starter(this one looks and sounds cheap), and do both at the same time. Think I need a new alt also, the volts go up and down(I see that in the dash lights and the HU). The idle is ok so I know that's not it. The rain just won't stop here, the car is inside for now. Got to track down that leak. I may have to start a new topic and just have this one for pics. What do you guys think? How about calling it "The new pit"?

The leak on the passenger side(drips from under the dash down to the floor pan). The guy that sold the car to me told me it had a leak, thought it was just the normal leak by the wire harness. I'm not sure where to start looking. Don't have much time this weekend, but I'll start pulling stuff off(this is kinda a set back). Starting to think that the swaybar end links I got are not the right ones(the Moogs are round and the old drivers side has flat sides on the bushings, HD?) Looks like it's just you and me talking again my friend, thanks for the support!

no prob man, umm, i need to do my swaybar endlinks also fairly soon, did you get energy suspension ones? I think you should if you didn't. As far as the leak, take off the wipers, then take off the wiper cowl. Then you need to silicone the whole thing along the cracks, that fixed my passenger side leak, i'm still leaking from my driver's side though. I need to look into that soon.

Well man, the plan is to get Eibachs( not for sure, the car rides so good and there is not much body roll). Yea, that's the plan on the leak, what you said. What brand did you use? What I wanted to say was new springs=new swaybars and better bushings. For now I just want to get the car on the road. Have you looked at MP Racing? They have a short ram intake for a 3100 for a Grand Am(I'm thinking of getting it). Vibrant has tubes to make your own intake also(I would like to make a CAI with the MP and Vibrant tube, but that's another project and crazy).

NO MONEY DON"T GET A SHORT RAM!!!!!!!! it's actually worse than a stock air box man!!! it takes in so much more hot air, get an actual cold air intake, or have me build ya one, it would cost you more though, i'm making one for bman on the other forums. as far as ebachs, i envy you, i want those grrrr, but for the silicone calking, i used GE silicone 2 i think.

Do you have pics on the CAI, what do you use for pipe, where do you get? Yea, I have Eibachs on the Cav and Eibach sways also. Man, they are great. I miss my Tranzgenic CAI on my 90. Ha, me asking for pics! The MP Racing has the best set up for the IAT and the breather hose I have seen, that's why I wanted to use it as a start to building the CAI(to me that is one of the hardest parts to build). Yes, I still would like to know more about yours. I'm a freak for smooth flow(no boundary layers).

I like it, I will say that. Did you have to cut the hole by the battery? I think my IAT is not the same, also I don't have a MAF(the MP Racing is set up for one also). I got my junk camcorder up and running,I'll get some pics. Just something to think about, the rubber tube that goes to from the TB to the MAF can make many boundry layers(one for each fold) and slow down flow(like I said I'm freak). Let me just add that I more than know how hard it is to make a CAI for these cars. Is the tube the same size as the TB diameter? Where does the filter end up at? That's a great shot of the monkey(chimp). Did you take it? Oh yea, is that steel tube? Just asking all of this, not trying to pick apart the CAI you worked so hard to make!

lol no prob money, the pic of the monkey i found somewhere, i don't remember where, but i like it lol. As far as the intake, ya i kno that rubber hose is a pos, but i haven't got around to spending 30 more dollars to make a section for that part.  the hole is already there on i think all 3100 cars, its where the stock intake draws air from. The filter ends up in the fender well, like the transgenic one. The tubes are metal (i think copper or somethin) with plastic covering from autozone (shut up ) IDK about the TB diameter, like i said, i'm lookin into it next time i have spare 30 ducks

Ok, to show that I want to get new pics up, I have something new. It's a Nikon P60 8.1 megapixel cam with a 5X optical zoom(200 bucks at Micro Center). Sorry, I just couldn't buy another cheap cam. I messed with the software all Saturday for the cheap one and couldn't get it to work. All Sunday I looked online to see what was the best for $200. The weather has been bad here(lost power last night). If it's bad this weekend I'll get a few shots in the garage(engine and inside). The MSD coils are going to be picked up Tuesday. 6r8ph1X, I'll have to get back to you on the CAI(still kinda want to make my own, not dead set on that though).

I just skimmed through your thread, sorry if I missed a lot (I know I did   )

Seems like you're back in the mod'ing game.  Get that leak taken care of first though!

Yea, the leak is #1. Man, it's been a long time, good to see your post. All the work that was done on the 90 must be done again on the 95. The purple pit is here!

I thought you gave up on me SGR. This weekend for sure on the pics. I know I've said it before, but I have the Nikon and that will make it easy. Software will be put on Thursday. Man, I went to get the coils and MSD sent one and back ordered the other two! I'm getting mad at this back order crap(the Cav header still is not here and now the coils). I went to a speed shop that is owned by a parts company(middle man, you know what I mean), if you buy parts from them there is no shipping cost. The thing is I could have had the coils two weeks ago if I just would have got them online.  My girlfriend has been working on the weekends and screwing up my work on the car(this is the third and last weekend of this). I see her only on the weekends and it's work or her, not both when this is going on. So, I'll take the photo's first and then try to get some work done. I want to take this car out on a long drive and burn out some of that carbon I know has built up(the last owner never got on it or drove it very far).
