Do you have a link? I thought that the 2.8 was a SD system. There is no MAF on them, you just have the IAT and the MAP. What are you wanting to do(other than that)?

He has the MAF and no IAT in his car.  It's a simple swap.  Find a 7730 updated chip and computer (to make it simple plug and play) and a IAT sensor.  Wire up the IAT accordingly and tape up the remaining wires tucking them away.
Should have this:

Then after you're done, you should have this:

Here's a pic from off the net of a 88 engine bay:

Wow, I didn't know they had them. I also thought that a MAF was better than just having a IAT.

The style we had was terrible.  Plastic POS that always broke or didnt read correctly.  I was glad to goto IAT.. I feel tuning with IAT is easier too.

I've heard that it's much more easy to tune with a MAF, but if it's as bad as you say I can see the need for a change.

From knowing a couple grand national owners (that are really in to speed) they all are going to or have already swapped to the SD system.
They hated having failed mafs or "okay" driveability.  With SD, they claim to have a way better idle and slightly better accuracy for tuning.

it all depends on your MAF sensor.  It has to be properly calibrated and generally a good unit.  gm never really figured the things out i mean look at the old flapper sensors they were junk brand new.  There are some very nice aftermarket and import  units that that make turboing an n/a car incredibly simple and work very well.  but the beretta stuff is crap
foot in the floor mpg about 8
