WTB 3100 Exhaust manifold downpipe Stud
I can't find this in any auto store. I need a new stud for the downpipe.
Needs to have full threads, not worn out threads.
Any help?

You try Autozone in the "HELP" section?
90 GTZ OBDII Intercooled Turbo 3400 5 speed (Beretta #16)
Wifey's car = 94 Cavalier Z24
Winter Rat = 99 Mitsubishi Mirage DE (1.5)
No one is more ignorant than those who falsely believe they are Free!

Yes, they have nothing for a 3100. They have the older 3.1mpfi, but HELP! does not list anything for 94-96. All the stuff that looks like it might work is too short.

A side LIM bolt with a washer will not work?

Is it the same thread? Same length? I think the LIM bolts are smaller. I wonder if it's strong enough (hardened)?
Interesting idea none the less. If I had a spare to look at I might consider it... LOL

When I needed them I was able to order a set at AutoZone. Came with the studs, nuts and springs.

The thread is way deeper/aggressive on the exhaust stud.

Yeah that's where I'm going next. Maybe even Fastenall.
Well I might stop by the dealer today at lunch and see how much they want for one.

Re: WTB 3100 Exhaust manifold downpipe Stud
Well, got to advance to pick up my stud/spring kit the lady ordered in, and it's 3 small ass springs (crossover?) lol.
Advance, OReillys, Autozone, etc do not have anything. The HELP! has one that is a bolt not a stud, and looks about 3/8-1/4" shorter, so that would compress the spring more.. Hmmm. Might just have to do that and hope the extra tension doesn't make it leak.
Called the dealer, for $8.75 they can get a set of 5, but it will take a week or more from Canada.....
Called an exhaust shop and they said they have kits that should fit (probably don't) and asked when they closed. 5:30. Took off work 45mins early to get there, and they were closed at 10 after. SOB!!@#$
I haven't gone to a bolt store yet, as I'll need a bolt that can take the heat and not rust off and be strong enough. I'm too pissed so I'll check that out tomorrow if the exhaust shop doesn't have it on my lunch hour.
Now I'm angry and worked up, was going to solder and machine some reflectors to fit in a space for another hobby, but I don't feel like doing that. Today was going good until I had to drive around all the idiots, use vacation time I don't have to get to a store that closed early, and then I get phone calls with angry people screaming at me.... I'm going the gym.... /end rant. lol

Re: WTB 3100 Exhaust manifold downpipe Stud
Well, I went everywhere looking for that damn shoulder bolt. Hell if would have known I couldn't get one locally, I would have had the dealer order in 5 and wait just a few days more. Oh well maybe I will be able to work on it this weekend now.
I settled for the HELP! bolt (not a stud) that is the right thread pitch. BUT it is 1/4" shorter, and the threads do not go all the way up to the shoulder. I haven't looked at the manifold to see if the threads don't start till a little ways in the hole, if that's the case that will be fine. If not I will use some washers so that the shoulder of the bolt will tighten up on the manifold/washers. I don't want just the threads supporting the side to side pressure, that's what the shoulder bolt is for so it is more solid and doesn't move around. Plus the washers will space it out so it's not as short. I'm not sure what having one side tighter on the spring would do.
You'd think a 3100 exhaust stud wouldn't be such a rare animal.............

They aren't hard to find....
http://www.car-stuff.com/store/?N=0&Nr= ... Kit+Felpro

That is what your looking for right? That's a stock downpipe spring bolt setup.

Re: WTB 3100 Exhaust manifold downpipe Stud
WTF?
It's not listed for 3100 though, are the 2.2 ones the same?
Only ones I found were for 3.1mpfi, and those were too short or had a smaller thread.

Re: WTB 3100 Exhaust manifold downpipe Stud
Good point, I missed the 2.2 listing... I wonder if they are the same. I know the 3.1 ones are shorter yes...
If you still need these I'll see if I can find my old 3100 manifold, I think I still have one... Not sure how easy the studs will come out though.
