New to the forums and a new retta owner
Hey guys im 18 and just bought my first car i bought an 89 beretta GT. Paid 500 bucks for her bought her with 123k miles on. Shes a 2.8litre MPFI v6 on a 5 speed tranny clutch went out so i put a cheap perfection clutch kit in.
I have a few questions as far as performance. I see like no one offers a cold air intake systm for the rettas. How have you guys put CAIs on? And as far as exhaust goes i wanna put a high flow cat on and run a Y pipe with Dual flowmasters do yall recomend this or wat kinda exhaust set up should i run im looking for more power and a deeper throatier sound.
As far as looks go i wanna put a body kit on her paint her jet black and put red neon under glows on with a set of black rims.(i like the black out look)
What do you guys think of this idea.
Ps for right now im looking for the the best way to push more power out of her kinda cheap.
She still has power and a bit of it i have hit 117 already no idea what the top speed is but dont really care i just want Power lol

Hi and welcome to Bnet. Two pipes are just for looks, it won't give you more power. Try this for the CAI http://www.stylusscustoms.com/
Also talk to 1988GTU about some 1.6 rockers. A high flow cat and muffler will help.

It's not a big loss, so it's up to you. Though, the cost of the other Flowmaster would almost cover the cost of a CAI. Be sure to get a K&N with the CAI. Look into getting a "performance chip", but keep in mind that all but one run best with 91+ gas. Also you can get a dog bone to free up 10 lbs/ft of TQ(MRZ has them). It will make the inside of your car rattle and shake though. I know that they work with the auto trans, but I'm not sure if it will on the 5spd. You may have to contact them to be sure before you order. One last thing to think about is a under drive pulley for the crank(MRZ) and a over drive pulley for the alt(March P/N 110).

Everybody is a Bfest right now and I'm not much help on this. I know people have put 3.8 N/A's in a Beretta. All I know is that it takes alot of work to get it in(the mounts are not the same).

Ya it's been about a month so I guess we are due for yet another 3800 newbie assault.
Put it out of your mind!
It's ALOT of work however if you are bound and bent on a swap look at 3400's and 3500's.
Your trans, as long as it's healthy, will be fine.
Weekend swap and you'll be just as happy.
www.car-parts.com is a good place to find low mileage engines.

It had to come sometime and there it is, the 3400 swap.
The mount on the front of that engine is not the same as yours(you don't have that mount). Here look at this for fun http://www.engine-parts.com/index.html they have all kinds for things for the 2.8. Not to say that is the best way to go though.
Another place here, http://wot-tech.com/shop/gen-2-2-8/3-1/cat_6.html that's a good one. The rockers on there are for cast iron heads only. Oh yes, http://mrzperformance.vstore.ca/index.p ... h/23_24_30 they are the only ones that make a shock tower bar. Strut tower bar is another story.
