Tranny problems,and NO speedo.
Tranny problems,and NO speedo.
Ok guys to see if you can help me out, I have a 94 Base Beretta, has the 3100 and the Auto overdrive tranny, here is my problem , I can get the car to shift from first to second at around 4 to 4500 Rpm and then it will shift to third fine does Not shift to overdrive , when I kick it down it will not kick in passing gear as well as when you sloe down it will not downshift, I can however shift it manually and it shift fine , I shift it manually it goes into second at like 2000 rpm and shifts fine to third still no overdrive and have to manually shift it when slowing down, I have replaced the Modulator vavle and with no help, it still does the same thing checked the vacum and it is good , is there some kind of sensor or anything else that I am missing that would cause this problem? Also about the spedo, it does not work at all , everyone of my other guages work , tach oil, volt, oil, everything just no speedo is this tied to my tranny somehow and if not is there a cable or sensor for the speedo and if so where is it located on the tranny? Please any help would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to get my wifes car up and going so I can stop getting up at 4am to take her to work,, Please help..

These transmissions are speed controlled... Change your speed sensor and I bet it will start to shift right.

Passenger side axle, if you look where the inner CV goes into, that's the diff housing, and there should be a plug right on the back side of the housing, that's the speed sensor.

Yes, it's easy to jack the car up on the front passenger side, and craw under with your feet hanging out the front of the car, head towards rear, Then look/feel up above that diff carrier housing there where the axle goes in. There is one (10mm?) bolt and then you pull the sensor straight up and out. It's more on the top/rear of the housing there.
Also check the wiring and make sure it's not cut some where..
