Velocity stack

Post by Money pit Beretta »

I still say this would be a great upgrade for a WAI. Too bad we don't have the room when using a CAI. It would be good for 10hp as well as some more velocity for those that are running the 1/4. Throttle response would be up. Also the thing I like most about it is that it helps with pumping losses. Here is a link to one of the best http://www.intrinsicperformance.com/pr_vstack.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here is a link to some talk about a velocity stack it's very long, but there is alot of good info. Bryan Pendleton is the main one to read. http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1450472" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I know honda-tech, but this is something I have never seen here.

Good read.

Honda-tech has a TON of good FWD info that alot of people here should read. Its reasearch like this that lets them get that extra 2-3 Hp out of their engines. Lots of little things add up and some of those hondas haul ass.

I just rode in my freinds NA civic and it was FAST. Im pretty sure it would tear my car apart. Its a jdm h22 with cams and porting. Header and intake. It pulls so hard.

Turns out the guy who started that thread on honda-tech ended up making some velocity stacks according to his data that he got. DPi is the name of his company - it also turns out these velocity stacks were copied to the T by a chinese rip-off company called Blox. The Blox velocity stacks can be had off of eBay for $29 shipped, I'm thinking of getting one to play around with. Maybe for a drag strip only intake set up since I don't feel like dropping another $50 on a filter to end up with what appears to be a 1hp gain across the board on smaller engines for $80.

But on a strip only set up with a longer, straighter intake pipe and getting it in some fresh air - maybe it will be worth more than the 1hp over a regular intake...

Stocking stuffer anyways, might as well.

Barry: your Civic friend's car is way lighter too. 500 or more pound, at least. I know you know that, but imagine how much faster your car would be minus 500 lbs.

Yeah his is a 91 eg hatch. Manual windows and no options it's 2200 pounds with no driver. Still has full interior.

If our cars were lighter they would all be in the 13's

I LAWL at the idea of a 2200lb L body. 2.2 option less 5 speed, with a few hours of sawzall work put into it.

It's actually BPi and they are $39.90 for the 3" model.

http://www.bpinitiatives.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Most of the info he provides is on Hondas, but it appears there is a very well documented 4-8 HP benefit from using one.

Might be interesting to play with one on my WAI.

Just something else to add to the parts-to-order list!

That's good news Eric, I started this topic with you and 3X00 in mind(also anyone else that could use one). Off the top of my head you two were the only ones that I know of that run WAI's. I'd like to have one for my 04 Cav.
Woody, if you get one to fit I'd like to hear about it. There is just not much room in the fender.

I would be trying it at the strip with no air filter, not trying to stuff it in the fender well. haha

That would work Woody. I'm not big on the idea of running without a filter. That would be why I did think of that(lol). :)

You can probably run 13's easily with just a little tuning!

But I'm going to buy one!!
