i dont know i havent really got on it yet... but the one time i did it didnt want to shift out of second and went to almost 7k... i got worried and let off so it would shift....

The 3t40 and TH125 are the SAME THING!

If it's not shifting at ~5200 RPM 2-3 then there is a problem and it's not going to get better.

However with that mileage what can you really expect.

Clean it up, make it look nice and enjoy it, but I wouldn't be beating on it too much, or you'll be looking for the 3400swap.com info. :)

Ok... that's a bit strange. It was a good idea to do what you did.
Well, look into that first. Second, get rid of the stock air box. If you want a CAI get one, but I think a WAI with a velocity stack would be better for you. That engine needs some help on the top end power(it has great low end power). That is if there is room for that large filter that comes with the stack(5in K&N). I can give a link to the best ones out there if you want.

Eric did the TH125 have the solenoid controled valve body like the 3T40?

They are the exact same thing. One is the RPO designation and the other the model number.

Thanks, just checking. Thought the 3T40 was a computer controled TH125. Kind of like the 700r4 and the 4L60. That clears things up.

yea i think thats what im going to do is dress it up and enjoy it and spank the little ricers in the civics.... fun times.... but yea i was looking for some kind of intake and maybe exhaust and maybe injectors....

Get that tranny checked out. It's not good to spin it that high. What does the fluid look like?
New injectors would be ok, but they cost like 220 bucks. No need for "bigger" ones on a stock engine. Check out the intakes Styluss has, they are made for these cars.

i have looked at the intakes from them... and i have a short ram off a 3.1L 2001 lumina.. im going to try that... and i will look a the tranny.. also would it be a hard swap to a 5 speed...

Hard? Depends on how well you are with a wrench, hole saw, welder, and fabrication skills... (Welder may not be needed)

Also MPB the 3t40 and th125 are the same, its the 4t60e that was the electronic controlled transmission (similar to the 3t40 but with 4 gears also). The only electronic part of a 3t40 is the TCC lockup.

The only other one I know of that was the same number for FWD was a 4t60 and 4t60e one hydraulic the other Electronic... and pretty much the same thing. They just never thought the Beretta needed a Overdrive Transmission till the Electronic version came out.

I don't know about that similar part. :) The gears and the placement of the valve body are not the same. A 4spd should have been used in a cars with an auto. It would have been great if they made a 3T40 with a fourth gear. Oops, there I go again!

I should have said that the 3T40 has switches on the valve body(not solenoids).
Spend you money on something else slohoe and keep an auto trans in the car. Hope that WAI fits, it's for a 3100 and another car.

it should fit... when it gets warmer out i will try to fit it... and im happy wit the auto... it pretty quick the way it is but just looking for a little more about it...

If you can try to get the PCV tube hooked up to the intake. I had a breather on my 90 with the CAI and I hated it. It always smelled like I had a oil leak somewhere.

150,000 miles?

Let's be honest.

That little motor will do you well, the trans is likely on its last legs, and while you feel it's peppy, it's just plain slow!

Rust free (if that is true) is a huge bonus!

Save your pennies, do some research, and look for a better engine.

Rebuilding a 2.8/3.1 is just plain STUPID when 3400's are cheap and a great value.

how much would the 3400 swap cost... i mean if i have to go that route... the junk yards here have alot of the motors for cheap... and what trannys would it mount up to....

3400 bolts to all the same transmissions as a 3.1 or 2.8 or 3100 does...

And the swap is dependent upon what you do to the motor once you buy it and where you get it from.
