That appears to be one of those stupid Ebay Getrags without the bosses for the rear trans mount and different mounting for the front trans mount! I'm pretty sure it was Weba that bought one of these and tore it to pieces to make one good trans out of that one and an old one in order to make it work in his car.

Yeah, you can see the tag, it's a 4DFF which was the one for the minivans, right?

I'm pretty sure I've seen it posted elsewhere that they are the euro minivan trans, regardless they won't work without having another donor trans and the knowledge and tools required for a complete tear down and part swap.Cliff8928 wrote:Yeah, you can see the tag, it's a 4DFF which was the one for the minivans, right?
Here's a picture of my 94 Quad Getrag trans for mount location reference in comparison to this trans.

I'd personally only pay maybe $100 for one of these "new" transmissions for parts alone. IMO it's way too much work for MOST people to make these work in your car.

Yeah they even say in the fiero forums that its the Euro trans, not worth messing with unless you have torn a getrag apart before and know what your doing (so you can swap the guts). Otherwise, not worth the hassle. If your gonna buy it and swap guts, you might as well buy the $90 rebuild kit on ebay and have a shop rebuild your current one. will cost about the same.

New everything is always new everything. rebuild kit does include like bearings and syncros only. But yes, the swap is kinda pain in the ass unless you have the Getrag assembly platform tool that i could not find anywhere. If someone finds that, buy asap and sell it to me or rent around to people who need it.
I destroyed one Getrag case when putting it together without that tool, second one the case hold but chipped one(1) tooth off the syncro ring. So now it have 2 sets of used transmission guts here without a case.. spares
I can see how Fiero people could use those transmissions anyway since many of them seem capable to build new drive train mounts out of nothing while working on the weirdest drive train swaps. Only that these have Quad4 bell housing.
edit: I just remembered, to swap the internals to old case or just install older bell housing, there is one(1) shaft that is different length, and causes the unit to be always on reverse unless modified. I may have just used the old shaft there, i cannot remember, one who needs to know, can find it by searching.
