WTB: V6 Getrag.... or case, or bellhousing, anything?
WTB: V6 Getrag.... or case, or bellhousing, anything?
Since my swapped Isuzu trans is not going to make it forever (differential is screaming for help, and all the other issues...), i am looking for the 92-93 (new style mounts) V6 Getrag.
I will also buy mounts, hydraulics and shifter and axles etc if you can for example, get them from donor car, but also interested just from the transmission if you can find one.

Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
Bump, seriously i need this thing, if anyone sees one at junkyard, i am willing to pay for the work too.
Following issues after soon 3 years of Isuzu usage, getting really mad on this situation:
- AC-Delco clutch (made by Bosch i think) for Isuzu lasted one(1) year behind my stock 3.1 and then started to slip and smell on hot weather
- Isuzu flywheel+Getrag clutch+Isuzu throwout bearing "works" but how long, it definitely is making lot of bad noises when cold, bearings are fried at least.
- Differential started to whine loudly late summer 2010, my guess it's starting to wear out and can grenade it self.
- Useless first gear (no grip, and even if there would be grip, it's good for only 1 car length.
- Too much RPM on highway (3000+) Makes the fuel economy bad and noise loud
- Different length axles ease wheel spin.. I fear that using gripper/wider tires would just break something instead.
- Can be one reason to massive drive train shake my car has been suffering ever since?
- The NOISE, rattling, banging, clunking and whining makes me nuts, granted this is because i have tried to resolve the drive train shaking issue with extremely stiff transmission mounts. I plan to use just stock mounts with the Getrag if i ever get one.
- Drivers side axle abs ring is damaged, no ABS for weba... I guess i could swap that out.
Oh, and now you are most likely thinking that i am beating the car, yes that may be true, but not doing it all off the time.
And do give plenty of love to it, this transmission has been running Redline MTL oil, and had two(2) RVS gear treatments done to it. Also i baby it most of the time, since it's my daily driver, that means double clutching, throttle blibs, synchronizing reverse and all that, yet there has been no issued with the synchros or gears going apart, everything else...
...Okay I am frustrated.

There are some on Car-Part, but was the 92-93 beretta trans always a Getrag? If so then someone local to one of them might be able to ship it to you.
Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
Nope 2.2 always got the Isuzu.

Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
So any 3.1L is a Getrag? I searched using the Manual 3.1 v6 option... not 2.2
Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
Woah, there seems to be several, even one with only 42k miles and couple with 60k .. if they have the years listed right, that's just the thing i need...
Anyone near Burnettsville, IN 47926?

Thats the problem, I'm more than willing to lend a hand, but there is nothing close to me unfortunately.
Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
I need one too! Been driving with a bad bearing and no 3rd gear syncro left for a while now.
These are so damn hard to come across.

Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
Are you guys talking about the NVG? Cause im almost certain only the older cavalier and berettas came with the getrag with external slave.
Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
They did on Quads, not sure of the much rarer V6+5spd cars, the actual change date seems to be unknown. I've seen both designs on trans axles with new mounts. I really don't care witch one i can get, as long it bolts to 92+ mounts.
Barry, You can get those swapped, there are rebuild parts around, no reason to waste rare transmission

Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
94 v6 Beretta's did not come with a 5-speed... So it may be the Isuzu that he is using now that came bolted to a 2.2L... Unless of course another 60* equipped car came with a 5-speed in 94, but I can't think of one.
Nothing was noted on what trans the 2.3L Quad uses so I have no idea if thats a Getrag or not, just with a different bell housing.

Re: WTB: V6 Getrag 92-93
My trans is supposedly from a '94 Z24. The J-bodies still came with the 5-speed on the V6 in '94.

Yes, it looks like in my case it would be best to swap my internals with a normal getrag internals because the cases are so hard to findweba wrote:They did on Quads, not sure of the much rarer V6+5spd cars, the actual change date seems to be unknown.
