Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
So, still fighting my stupid upper trans mount on my 90' 282 trans in my 95 'retta. I looked under my trans and it has the threaded boses for the bottom fender mount. Wondering if anyone had one. Barry?

I dont have any, however, they are easy to find in a junkyard. The quad 5-speed grand ams up to 1997 or 8 use these mounts. You can also use 2.2 5-speed beretta mounts. (im talking the brackets on the frame)
The actual tranny mounts with the rubber in it are the harder part to find, because they only work from cars with the 282 from 92 and up.

Heres a couple links to new mounts and brackets.
Mounts - http://www.racepages.com/products/?N=42 ... ent=search
Bracket - http://www.turbotechracing.com/productc ... tegory=452
The bracket shows that it is for a 95+ cavalier, but its the same and should work. Too bad they don't offer the rear bracket as well.

Anyone with picture of this actually installed on the car? I've never had 92+ 282.

Re: Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
For $10 bucks i had one from a junk yard car and then 20 mins welding it in
much cheaper and built factory strong! Stronger looking than that aftermarket one for $80, thats a rip!
Heres mine installed on the 90 GTZ

Re: Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
Will this also work in a z24 to get rid of the fugly upper mount to run exhaust turbo piping better and still be as strong?

Re: Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
You'd have to install the rear one too in a J-Body or 87-91 L Body (except the Quad)

Re: Lower manual trans mount (fender mount)
i am too looking for a lower mount.. the one on the frame looks rather easy to make one if someone had the measurements of the mount and where it goes on the frame..
I have a 88, originally a 2.0 L auto. and now have a 1991 cavy 3.1 L 5 speed and the 2.0 L mounts were the same, i did use the front lower dog bone from the cavy. but theres a bracket on the back of my trans for another dog bone it looks like but i dont have it on there.
Nothing on my frame for a lower mount. and im going to be putting in a turbo and will need to do something about the mounts.

You should get a few sets made up, i would buy a set, if they will work on a v6 getrag 282 5 speed.Alpinestar10 wrote:Hell i wouldn't mind doing both to be able to run piping better, If anyone has a set ill take them to my machinest to make a copy and get the diamensions and send them back and post up the diamensions for everyone
Im not sure if my 5 speed has a spot for this style of mount.. maybe someone could answer this ? its out of a 91 cavy.
