I don't think the .08 shave is enough to affect your compression much.

Thats more of a surface flattening shave.

Weba, PM.

Cracks in the head should be fine as long as you dont hammer it too bad while trying to get your tune.

Probably wont stand to much detonation abuse.

I need to take macro pic to show what I'm talking about, these are really tiny, and to my understanding the common thing in heads like this.

I've seen what your talking about before on a 99 set of 3400 heads. I opted not to use them but the machine shop guy said they were fine and could be welded if I was worried about it.

There really isnt a lot of room to be welding on an 086 where these cracks usually form in particular. So its an expensive repair, and takes a lot of skill. I had a set of aluminum 409 heads that cracked between the valves. It ended up about 400 dollars for welding and machining, just one cylinder.

If you know anything about the 348/409, you know that the valves all but overlap, and when they crack they blow up. (my nitrous solinoid stuck mid run, i backpedaled and got back on it, BOOM. Didnt help)

The car is now back together with new lighter valvetrain and 224/430 cams.

Also got rid of the narrow band o2 emulation for ECM, and installed heated o2 for it. And added the wbo2 to ALDL mod using A/C input on the ECM. Excellent idea, who ever first thought about that...

Sorry no pics, no need to since it looks the same as before?

After changing coolant and break-in oils, I'm going to do cam break in run of 2500rpm @ 30min, also need to buy ZDDP additive for that first.. If the fuel from 2009 is still usable :D Let's see next weekend.

After the break in is done, i still need to adjust few things here and there, but it's drivable again. In case nothing breaks.
I am getting rid of the crappy summit breather catch can, that thing is a total failure. Working on my own design to replace it.

Also I am running this car without power steering as a test for now, i hate how i could steer this car with one(1) fingertip, as the black car needs whole hand for some reason, i like it better that way. Only difference in the setups is the fluid cooling loop on black car? :fool:

I may also swap the fuel pump and add relayed power for it.. and those rear axle bushings, let's see

I wish the pain in my ass on the Q4F would understand this fact! I guess 2 tiny cracks are too much for his hardcore stock 1989 LD2/Auto 4 door Calais... :fool:

Sorry for being slightly off-topic, just venting a tad...

Minor changes in engine bay, removed power steering, build new breather catch can and steering fluid expansion tank from stainless steel. I did not cut the power steering lines yet, in case i will find the steering too hard, i can put the pump back in.

I also have idle video on Facebook behind this link, you can see it if you are friend, or friends friend of mine, that should cover most of the old school members. I am not putting it to Youtube. (don't ask). :P

That's the way GM should have done it!
I don't know much about Quads, but doesn't the cam belt have a cover?

Well, for starters, Quads don't have a cam-belt from GM.

You know you can set youtube video's to private and only have youtube "friends" view it. Just saying.... Youtube is just less drama to deal with versus facespace and mybook.

I know it has private features too, but that would mean I'd had to manage a list of people i know on Youtube too.
